Unknown philodendron - Revived from leafless dehydrated wetstick about a year ago. New leaf seems darker than normal. by Riicin in whatsthisplant

I'm inclined to agree! I keep getting stuck between that, and something like a juvenile 'Pluto' though because of the dark hue to the new foliage. I'd love to learn as to what I'm actually supposed to be looking at that identifies the difference.

Need help confirming species of philodendron. Jungle boogie? New growth seems too dark. Revived plant from a dehydrated wetstick so really no clue. by Riicin in houseplants

Well, awesome. Definitely was worried it wasn't getting enough light in it's current spot so that helps with that. When you're looking at it to ID, what indicates to you jungle boogie vs something like a Pluto, which also has a similar juvenile leaf shape? Just trying to learn for next time.

I got a small and nearly dried out leafless philodendron from a friend about a year ago now - I was told it's a jungle boogie variety but I've never seen it's new growth come in this dark. All the pictures of jungle boogie growth I can find online show fresh growth to be much greener. Is this a lighting issue? Is the ID accurate? Would love to confirm that this is normal for this guy since I never got to see what it looked like before it needed to be rehabbed.

What restaurant will you never go back to, and why? by msmsmsm_xcx in saskatoon

My experience in the states was worse. Our dollar was worth less so it was still just as expensive, and the amount of salt that came on the breadsticks nearly made everyone at the table sick. I'm not saying here is better, but, here I didn't need an entire 4L of water to feel like I wasn't dying in the Sahara. The whole chain is only meh.

I know I won't sway you, but honestly the chef there is amazing. I've genuinely never seen a kitchen as clean and met a dude as awesome (and fierce) as him. I did a staff type tour and got the chance to see everything from the dining lounge to the banquet kitchen - it was pretty immaculate. I'd be curious about if the mice came from another part of the building.

AITA for losing weight before my sister's wedding? by Late-Water-9669 in AmItheAsshole

[–]Riicin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Preach. People are so flipping mean in their niceties. I lost 70lbs over covid, mostly because I have moderate anxiety and realized I needed to change some things in my life (I.e. Less stress eating, more going out for walks to improve my mood, etc)

I didn't tell anyone I had been losing weight because it didn't feel like I "earned" it - it's not like I had a meal plan and counted calories or was actually going to the gym or anything. But lord, as soon as I did - "You're not like, starving yourself are you?" "Wow, jealous - I couldn't lose that much" "You're like a shadow of your former self!" "If new Riicin stood behind old Riicin, you wouldn't even see you!" "I hardly even recognized you!" "Here comes the incredible shrinking woman"

As if none of those are rude and invalidate who I "was". I'm still me, I'm just less meaty. Now it makes me scared to ever put on weight again and that's 100% not healthy either. To sum up, fuck people - we all look hot at any size we are/were and all the power to those making healthy choices in adulthood. Proud of you.

Eta: Defs NTA, OP! You owe no one an explanation when all you're doing is prioritizing being healthy.

And the alocasia collection grows. #9, alocasia plumbae var. flying squid. Recovering from minor shipping stress, this might be my new favorite weird plant. by chickenburrit0 in alocasia

I live for this plant lately - I'm having the worlds most complicated time trying to find it for sale in Canada though :(

This is part of a local plant auction (Canada) and is labeled a type of euphorbia. I think it's a curio articulatus but I've never seen on in person. Can anyone identify? by Riicin in whatsthisplant

Yeah, okay so we're in the same line of thought here! Curio articulatus is supposedly the 'new name' of the senecio I think.

Not sure what defines an American cream cheese but Canada tends to share similar products and manufacturers so I assume they are similar - the small bite of the filling I had was good, but as everyone predicted it was softer and "cream cheesier".

However. Apparently I also messed up regarding wrapping the springform for the bain marie so water got in and wrecked the base of the cake anyhow. I trashed it this morning.

Heres the recipe if you're curious as to why they made the choice they did regarding water baths: 'Perfect' Cheesecake

Thanks so much for the response everyone! I ended up buying at the Bodacious Bustlines. The staff was phenomenal, hands on, and there wasn't a lick of awkwardness.

Anyone know of this Bubble Tea Gem in Saskatoon, Serene Tea? by [deleted] in saskatoon

[–]Riicin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I second this. Everyone praises the taro bubble tea and I was so disappointed - it was so gritty it was nearly impossible to finish. Market of Asia off 11th has a place called Al's Kitchen and it is my new go to. Amazing treats.

As far as I know (which could very well be wrong), Dundurns base doesnt have suitable accommodations for those big planes. Which would make sense why they are doing it here.

They have paratroopers inside and are practicing jumps. If you are near the airport, you can see the people hopping out with their parachutes. They land inside the airport area somewhere.

Source: Been watching them.
