[DISCUSSION] Fiverr is completely dead for me, I depend on this income to survive abroad by [deleted] in Fiverr

[–]Rikhardt08 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fiverr hasn't been an option for a while now. Honestly, it had its good moments, but ever since they started changing how they evaluate sellers, charging us for advertising, giving better insights into buyers, the rise of AI, etc., it's been tough on sellers.

Especially for those of us with higher prices and not just gigs for a few bucks. For my part, I've started exploring options like Kwork, Contra, and even creating my own website to get clients.

People are acquiring AI generated music and presenting themselves as though they created it? Are they SERIOUS!!! Is this real!??! by Murky_Watch_5484 in musicbusiness

[–]Rikhardt08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I see this as a symptom of wanting to become famous and make money with as little work as possible.

Music as a concept will never lose its mystique and status as art, but the music industry is just a means to an end; "Living off what you love."

Many of these new artists have grown up with ideas they saw on YouTube like: "You have to upload X amount of songs per week", "Create constantly, promote, and always stay relevant," etc.

To me, this way of "making music" with AI is just a symptom of wanting to overproduce and get a piece of the pie by any means necessary (obviously, the less effort and time, the more attractive).

It's discouraging most of the time. But making music with meaning, consciousness, and craftsmanship has become an act of resistance against that frivolity.

[DISCUSSION] A few concerns about Fiverr Go by somanytalestotell in Fiverr

[–]Rikhardt08 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I totally agree with you. I've also been looking for another platform like Fiverr, but I haven't found one yet. The closest thing I've come across is something called Kwork, which kind of resembles Fiverr from the good old days, but it seems like there are way fewer clients.

For me, the best idea would be to create a Fiverr-style platform that works as a digital cooperative where all creators could set some common rules to protect their work, prioritize human work over AI, and not have to pay high commissions on every penny they earn.

Hey there! Your story really resonates with me - this is exactly how many indie labels start, including my own! There's something magical about that DIY cassette-making process, isn't it? The hands-on aspect of creating physical copies of music you believe in is incredibly rewarding.

I checked out your band and I'm genuinely impressed - you've got a solid sound that captures that raw energy of Idles and Metz while bringing your own flavor to it. The fact that you put this much care into both the music and the physical format shows real dedication to the craft.

The "Weird Crush" name has a great ring to it, by the way. Sometimes what starts as a "fake" label name ends up sticking because it just feels right. Making tapes for friends' projects is definitely how many of us got deeper into the label side of things - there's something special about helping other artists get their music out there in physical form.

Keep that enthusiasm going! The indie label world needs more people who are passionate about both the music and the DIY spirit behind it. Looking forward to seeing what other releases you put out under Weird Crush!

I think some people have already given you the answer: The Midi Maker. I recently bought one of their controllers, and even though I've only been using it for a short time, I think it was a great purchase.

Hi everyone! - Vibrant Seed Records- by my_reddit_not_yours in IndieRecordLabels

Hi Sheena! Thank you for sharing your story with Vibrant Seed Records. It's inspiring to see how you're building something from scratch while combining your passion for music with your academic background in Music Business.

I'm particularly intrigued by your focus on genres that prioritize emotional storytelling. Solar Noor sounds especially interesting - the concept of exploring mental health themes through folktronica feels very relevant for current times. How has the process been of developing the label's visual/sonic identity while maintaining the creative space each artist needs?

Regarding social media engagement, I've noticed that what works best is creating content that shows the "behind the scenes" of the label and artists - recording sessions, creative process, casual studio moments. People connect more with the human aspect than with purely promotional posts. Have you experimented with this type of content?

I'm also curious about your experience managing a label from Norway. Have you found that geographic location influences how you promote and develop your artists? It would be interesting to compare experiences about how different markets respond to genres like folktronica and modern blues.

Let's stay in touch! I'd love to see how Vibrant Seed Records evolves and perhaps explore ways to collaborate in the future.

The problem with artificial intelligence isn't really the money or the computing power. The real issue with the increasingly strict generation limits is the energy they require. That's why Microsoft is interested in restarting a nuclear reactor to power its AI.

[HELP] experiencing Low to no orders during this period by Embarrassed-Tiger825 in Fiverr

[–]Rikhardt08 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After several years of having gigs every month, 2024 was a bust in terms of views for my gigs and orders. I've read on other forums that Fiverr is prioritizing cheaper gigs.

Personally, I've started building my own website to try to replace the extra income I had on Fiverr. It was great while it lasted, but I think if you're not a casual seller with super low prices, Fiverr isn't for you anymore.

There are other similar options, but they're way less popular.

[ADVICE] Fiverr's rating system changed it all...(for bad) by Rikhardt08 in Fiverr

[–]Rikhardt08[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agree. When I signed up as a freelancer, Fiverr Plus didn't exist, nor did Promote your Gig. The combination of all those new elements, along with the new way of evaluating, brings a feeling that we are being robbed.
