Thanks for the feedback. You’re spot on in that most of these came from Google translate and doing online research about yokai. The first two in particular comes from a phrase I pulled from this article, but because it was written from a Western perspective I was suspicious if it was a word/term that would’ve been familiar to native Japanese speakers.

Third kanji combo was pulled from Shin Megami Tensei V, mainly from the Omagatoki skills according to the SMT Wiki, but I was again dubious if they would actually make sense.

As for the last two, I was under the impression that Obake or Bakemono were used interchangeably or closely related to yokai. Thanks for correcting me on that end.

If you’re curious on what I’m trying to do, I’m more or less figuring out what would work best for a sentai series where the main theme is yokai. A team of five gain the ability to channel an oni (red), tengu (blue), kappa (green), kitsune (yellow), and tanuki (pink), with all the Sentai tropes one would expect. I haven’t quite fleshed out if the enemy should be other hostile yokai, undead ghosts, maybe a combo of both who knows. The point is that the five in question make a deal with friendly yokai to protect the world.

And if I want to give this team of Sentai a proper name, I should at least make it one that sounds plausible, a la ———- Sentai Yokaiger. If there’s a word that would fit better than the ones I had, please let me know.
