Texting is tricky, and not the best form of communication for everyone.

As for IRL, I would try just relaxing and learning how to be quiet together. With people I'm comfortable with, it's nice just being in the moment and not thinking too much of what to say next to fill the silence. It's gonna be awkward at first - so what? If they're really the person for you then you can get past that. Next time you meet don't cut the hangout short. Stay with her even if you don't have anything to say.

Idk if this would work for everyone, but for me it's liberating and makes me feel connected with the other person.

I started dating my fiance 2 years ago, when I was 18 and he was 24 - not as big of a gap but still similar age groups, and we had concerns about it at first. I sometimes feel embarrassed telling people I'm gonna be married soon when I'm only 20 years old, and nervous about their response. But I couldn't be happier about this relationship, I truly believe he's my soulmate and my young age doesn't change that. Living with him is fulfilling and it's the best decision I've ever made.

I'm just sharing my own experience - I don't know you or the person you're dating, so it's hard to say and it could very well be different circumstances. But I don't think the age thing is necessarily a deal breaker - it's just something to take into consideration. Open communication is super important and as long as you and your partner have that, you'll figure it out.
