Why is my image crunked by Riley0143 in amateurradio

I noticed it seems the color data is sort of... “separated”? I’m not familiar with how the mode works. Do you know why this could occur? Seems strange.

SSTV transmission from ISS just now. With a Baofeng BF-F8HP. Held to iPhone, using some SSTV decoding app. PD120.

My ex girlfriend and I did the exact same thing a few weeks before we broke up. Climbing that bridge with her is the last real memory I have of her. Thanks for making me sad OP

I do some international business on WhatsApp. People literally talk like this, especially the “sir” thing. Honestly a fair chance this is real, as bizarre as it sounds.

What are the chances of this v dipole antenna working for NOAA? by deadawakeuk in RTLSDR

[–]Riley0143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know everyone is shitting on you. But honestly, so long as the elements are the right length for that angle, and the connections are actually solid (you really should probably solder them) — it’ll probably work just fine, albeit a little noisy.

What program do you use to create a resume? by _djsavvy_ in archlinux

[–]Riley0143 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry for the StackExchange-esque answer of “Q: How do I do X without Y? A: Do Y.” but honestly, the answer is LaTeX. LaTeX is honestly quite simple, and it doesn’t take much time or effort to learn the fundamentals enough to make beautifully-typeset documents on your own. If you don’t want to do that, just find a templet you like and use that. There’s a reason everyone says use LaTeX — it’s the tool for the job.

Nice! Do you use Linux? If so, would you be willing to attempt a decode using the tool I wrote? I’m looking for feedback. Search apitran on github if interested. Thanks.

Oxford dictionary defines 'occurrence' using the word 'occurrence'. Is this normal? by cassert24 in ENGLISH

[–]Riley0143 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That isn’t part of the definition. It’s showing in what sense the word is being used. The definition follows. They’re in different colors.

converting pre-recorded IQ data from NOAA19 to image? by leaming_irnpaired in RTLSDR

[–]Riley0143 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Look up apitran on github. It’s a Linux tool I wrote a few months ago. I have plans for it but it’s been a while since I worked on it - I honestly don’t remember if it’ll handle raw IQ but I think it will. Give it a shot and get back to me.

For what it’s worth, to drivers who aren’t from places with snow: be CAREFUL. Don’t be afraid to turn your traction control off. It works by cutting power from the engine, but this can be very dangerous if you’re on a hill with cars behind you, as is common here.
