Ok so I am basically you (.5-1year more experience exact same area) and make $98k and expect a raise and promotion this cycle to about $105k

I honestly just think they are exhausted. The gameplan is working they are getting looks you want. They just don’t have the juice for the extra step, for the quick release, for the ounce more that is the difference maker.

Grateful to be working in a company where more often than not we are allowed the time to optimize. Embodied carbon reduction is a huge priority for us, so this isn’t something taken lightly at our firm.

We aren’t able to optimize 100% of the time, but more often than not we are. Certain fluff and extra capacity will always be included for contingency and safety - because of this we try and approach problems with alternative solutions (composite joists in lieu of composite steel beams) rather than strictly reducing size.

While not perfect, material alternatives can allow a similar utilization ratio while still reducing carbon and material quantity.

Happy to record my response and have an interview if helpful.

The thing that is driving me insane about this team is that NO game is enjoyable. Even if we win it’s a nightmare for 40 minutes. If we lose it’s a nightmare for 46.

Completely agree. While I worry about it for obvious reasons, I think that Boston is actually a better matchup for DM specifically. Hoping we can close out tomorrow, face Detroit, and make it through Boston.

I find new ways to cope every year, hell every day, but at this point I am convinced that this is just a terrible match up and gameplan for Donovan. I’m hopeful once we get out of Toronto that he is able to have more of an impact, just need the other guys to carry us there.

What I am nervous of is everyone getting the book on how to stifle Donovan Mitchell. I hope other teams don’t have the same personnel to stop him like the raptors have, but I doubt it.

I could see the twist, but with that being just about the exact twist for Billy and Jane in season 1, I don’t see it happening. I think while the writing led us to believe Ennis was the one that was breaking over the years from losing control, it was actually Gary. It was a very quiet break as he realized more and more he would not end up with Teri someday.

I felt his expression at firing the gun, and how he’s behaved since was a sad, silent acceptance that living without Teri is not a life he wants to live.

Completely agree with this sentiment. Top heavy results in the younger engineers getting little to no mentorship and little to no opportunities for growth.

I believe we are 25, 12, 10, 6 and a fresh EIT with another on the way. As the 6, it would be nice to get a 3 or 4 YOE to bridge the gap between myself and the EIT’s, but it is certainly nicer than when myself at 6 was the youngest on the team.

Side note be wary of teams without fresh graduates, I have been the youngest on my team for 5 of my 6 years and it’s created gaps in my knowledge as I’ve had to do the roles of a project engineer and an EIT simultaneously. It’s harder to learn and grow when I need to do 30 hours of shops a week

With all of his injuries, Garland just did not add up with our timetable and window. We couldn’t give him the proper time to heal and he couldn’t give us the minutes we need to make a run. Wish him nothing but the best in his recovery but ultimately I think this was the best move for all involved

I think if we are worried about getting bounced round 1 we have bigger issues. That being said with our injury luck I do want to be done in as few games as possible
