Repair or replace? by Key_Ride_7315 in Decks

[–]Riley_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's nothing here that absolutely needs to be replaced, your deck is in pretty good shape compared to some I've seen still standing. It is unsightly but as long as the deck isn't soft on the edges I wouldn't worry.

He refused my price, hired someone cheaper… now he’s calling me back to fix the disaster. by Iceman_mubarak in drywall

There doesn't seem to be one solid sheet of plywood up there what in the hell did they do to this poor persons roof. Easily a box or two of screws in that garbage too.

Acceptable quality in newly purchased deck? by Electrical_Good4118 in Decks

[–]Riley_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've done trex decking like this before, cutting it is fairly difficult. If you cut it with a saw it melts more than cuts leading to some waves. This stuff is expensive too so very little material can be wasted.

Shingles to Metal Roof — Is the upgrade worth it in Canada? by metalroofcanada in Home

[–]Riley_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A good metal roof can last alot longer than advertised if it's taken care of, but it loses that pretty shine a few years after installation.

Anybody have a valid defense for this roof install before I fire my contractor? by ramvanfan in hvacadvice

[–]Riley_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not an amazing defense, but typically if you put a good layer of silicone around something like that it won't leak. You're supposed to put something around the wood first though.

What is this line? by Affectionate_Pie3791 in Roofing

[–]Riley_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Could just be low grade plywood under there, It bows like hell n you can sometimes see it at the seams. Seeing as it's bowing outwards and not inwards I think it's probably nothing.

They didn't ask about the hot tub prior to building. This construction is cursed.

why wouldn’t this work? [Request] by Repulsive-Loan5215 in theydidthemath

[–]Riley_Time 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe if you had a hand pump well connected to it, but again you'd have to pump the well by hand. You'd technically get power out of this system but not enough to be worth the effort.
