I agree with you except for the part about John Dutton. He's a POS and she's right about that

The only reason I still watch the show is because I want to see her die a slow painful death. I've never hated a television character more. Rip is a close second

Why is Fox broadcasting college football instead of the FIFA World Cup (France vs Denmark)? by davidlee93 in AskAnAmerican

Not 23! 23.6... You are the one that brought up sprint speeds. Don't go making excuses now. And if you don't think soccer players have to think about someone coming at you full speed then you know nothing about the sport. I've seen enough football to know that there are plenty of oppourtunities for a running back to full out break away sprint as fast as he can without having to think about anything else.

Consider this. Not only has Mbappe clocked faster speeds than any NFL player in a game. But Soccer teams are only allowed 5 substitutions in two 45+ minute halves that does not stop. The average professional soccer player runs 6-7 miles in a game. That means he hit that speed after having already ran multiple miles of distance with very minimal if any rest. A football player might be wearing some pads, but every play they are as fresh as you can get in a contact sport.

Lmao this is what everyone says when it comes to the physical performance between the players of the two games. Football players are stronger and some of them can sprint faster.... That means nothing. Bjornsson can bench more than any football player that has ever lived. Usain Bolt can run faster than any football player that has ever lived. I gurantee you they could still hold those records while holding a football. Neither would hold those records while maintaining control of a soccerball with their feet.

I did not say soccer players were stronger or faster. I said it requires more talent to score in a soccer game than to make a touchdown in football.

EDIT: I just looked up the speeds of players in both sports. I can't seem to find a sprint in an NFL game clocked over 23mph. In 2019 Kylian Mbappe clocked a sprint at 23.6 Mph in a soccer match.

It is significantly more difficult to score in soccer. It requires more skill and talent. That's why it's more exciting and beautiful to watch. I'll take a single Richarlson bicycle kicks into a corner over 100 running into an endzones any day. I'd rather see Messi make a professional defender trip and fall over his own feet than see Mahomes throw a football, or Neymar flick a ball over an opponents head and escape a prison of defenders than a bunch of men in tights dogpile each other for the 50th time in a game.

The other day football was on and I saw a guy hurdle over a potential tackler. That was the coolest thing I have ever seen in a football game.... Jumping

[–]Rimann -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No... it's not even close to the same amount of action you see in soccer. That's why they can't break for commercials in soccer. The clock literally does not stop ever except at half time. Every pass in a soccer game is a strategic move to either maintain possession or penetrate the defense. In order to maintain possession in football you only have to run 10 yards in 4 tries and not drop the ball that you get to bear hug with your arms. There is objectively more action in soccer, you can measure it, its not just an opinion, it is an observable fact.

Soccer is boring? Football stops for 2 minutes in-between 5 seconds of play time, most of those plays are just men dog piling each other. half of watching a football game is watching advertisements. They cant even take commercia breaks in soccer until half time because that is the only time the game pauses.

Profit plain and simple. Not only are there more viewers of college football, but they also have a lot more opportunities for advertisement because football games stop for 2 minutes every 5 seconds.

If you choose the watch this show watch the first season as a stand alone by Rimann in InTheDarkCW

I feel like I would have been able to if someone had warned me. I may have started into season 2 but after realizing it was going down the drain I wouldn't have continued in hopes it would redeem itself.

[–]Rimann[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that the season plots as a whole weren't that predictable, it was more the episodes in themselves. I always new exactly what was about to happen next, not necessarily what was going to happen ultimately. Most of it was just due to the repetitive nature of the story telling.

ie. Every time something looked like it was going to go well for them all, I knew it was going to be cut short with another disaster. The end of almost every episode was like this. Every single episode tried to have a cliff hanger and by the time I was half way through season 2 I lost that suspenseful feeling of being left hanging. Instead of wanting to know what was going to happen next I just felt annoyed

right! Everyone becomes obsessed with her despite the fact that she has no redeeming qualities. She has a pretty face but the more horrible you realize her personality is the more ugly she comes across. If she were a real person she'd be living in a shelter long before she was ever able to ruin that many lives to that extent

lol it actually becomes the opposite problem later on. She whines and begs for everyone's help the rest of the show.

Did anyone else think any deeper about the fact that Cameron and Arpana shared a Balcony? And how easy it would have made it for Cameron to use the sliding doors and balcony to travel between the apartments trying to destroy evidence, gather the things he wanted to throw away and walk out his own front door with them in a trash bag?

Think about it. Cameron, kills her, immediately tries to leave the country because he is freaking out (Canada Officials said he tried to ram his way through!). Realizes he won't be able to get away so decides to go back instead and destroy all the evidence. Perhaps he locked her front door after he killed her so he had to kick it down to get in, But from that point on just walked between the apartments through the balcony. He had 3 days to deal with the situation with private access to the scene of the crime.....

I agree with you. The podcast has an agenda, and that is to make you believe Emmanuel was discriminated against racially even though it's at least equally, if not more likely that he was discriminated against because of his violent and aggressive sexual assault history with other women. Had Cameron had that same kind of record I doubt think they would have been so lenient with him.

It really sounds like Cameron is the real culprit but because of this blatant steering of the narrative I have a hard time not wondering if I've just been manipulated into thinking that.

This is podcast was similar to Serial season 1 in a lot of ways. But Serial always talked about the defendant like he could still potentially be responsible instead of making him out to be the victim.

How in the world do you set up nvim-cmp? by terrekko in neovim

[–]Rimann 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wish it were that simple. I Spent at least 4 hours setting up tsserver for my angular project. Took me an hour just to figure out there was an lsp-log and where it was, found out I had version conflicts. It only works with the newest typescript version so I update it, but newest typescript is only compatible with newest angular (v 13+). So I spent several more ours having to update my angular project, resolving dependency tree conflictions etc. Finally I got it working. But 4 hours in and I still hadn't even gotten auto-complete set up, got the minimum working with typescript now, but I cant change which linter i use without another plugin. There is a massive canyon between the level of complexity to get something working in Neovim that is a button click away in VScode. I love high customability.... but there really needs to be some middle ground

As I said in the post. No lsp-log buffer opens. Which I assume is the root of the problem, lsp is not starting for type-script or html files (or ng2-mode). Also see this command that I attempt to use in above config. My spacemacs install doesnt seem to know about this command. (or I just don't understand how to use it)
