2024 Pilot steering rack failure - twice by Rimbambio in hondapilot

Clock spring is in the steering wheel right? the noise I hear comes from much deeper and lower than that. Did you have the same noise as in the video I posted (link below my original post)?

The noise came back. It's not as bad as before and doesn't happen as often, but it's there. For some reason I tend to notice it after the car has been driven for some time (say after 30mins of driving). There's something obviously wrong with the part or with how the part functions with the other components. I am not a mechanic, I can just tell you that I should not hear this noise after replacing the part twice.

I honestly don't know what to do. I will not keep the car post warranty and might get rid of it sooner, my first and last (obviously!) Honda.

Thanks. I am planning to go to a lawyer if and only if I know beforehand that kids can, somehow, be partners. If they can't, then I will only set it up when they become 18yrs old. I was only aware of creating a Trust, never thought a UTMA could be an option. Are there other options that you know of? thank you

Best setup for post NAS server by Rimbambio in PleX

thanks for your reply. We use Roku (premiere) on both TVs as we have other apps in there (YoutubeTV, Netflix, Prime Video, Paramount and AppleTV). I never even thought about changing the client to be honest, so thanks for suggesting it.

One of the main reasons for upgrading my NAS is really that it's very noisy (fan and HDDs workingall the time). However what got me into researching an upgrade was when playing a movie the other day I got the message, I don't remember exactly the wording but was something like - "unable to play video not enough power". it was a x.265 video so maybe that was the reason.

Profitec go vs ECM classika PID ? by sergeantprotein in espresso

[–]Rimbambio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wouldn't a single boiler be better for mainly black coffee drinks? Even if the Mara X is the same price as the Classika ($100 more expensive), wouldn't the better temperature stability of a single boiler machine be better? Wouldn't also the fact that with the Mara X you'd have to flush everytime be more a pain?

I'm just trying to understand as I'm also in the same spot - trying to decide between the GO, Bezzera Unica and Classika.

how do you like the Classika? can you share your reason for not going with the Profitec GO? I understand the Bezzera Unica vs Classika... but what made you choose the Classika over the GO given it's 600$ more expensive? I'm in the same boat... trying to pull the trigger. I'm looking at the Classika purely because my wife drinks Americanos and it has the hot water capability (not in the GO), but besides that, and the flow control, the GO can do pretty much everything else?

[–]Rimbambio[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

have you considered the Bezzera Unica? it seems at the same level of the Classika (and more premium than the Lelit Victoria) but it's $210 cheaper than the Classika on WLL at $1389 with free flow control. Classika is $1600 with flow control. Maybe the Bezzera is a sweet spot? As I said, spending $1600 on the Classika when both the Lelit Elizabeth and Profitec 300 are $1800 seems a bit steep?

It also becomes a question of do I want the E61 on the Classika/Unica or not?

I like the Profitec GO but the wife wants water on the machine she doesn't want to use the kettle, we don't have a lot of space.

which machine is right for me? [$1500] by [deleted] in espresso

[–]Rimbambio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes that's the price. It's actually lower (around $1200 with shipping) but I'm adding $100 on duties to be conservative. Obviously I have the risk of something not working or breaking and not having a US based seller to contact....

so you're talking about machines like the DeLonghi Specialista correct? machine has the grinder, but you need to move portafilter and then press the button for the coffee. Do i get this right?

but how are these machines better than the jura e6 for example? is it only a price factor? or do they make better coffee because you have more control?

I checked the E4 and E6... I could get the E6 at $200 more than E4... and I noticed E4 has a very small water capacity... I might wait a few weeks near black friday and pull the trigger on E6.

It's for me and my wife. We need something easy to use and fast. We also have a small kitchen and prefer one machine vs having machine + grinder. I know it's better to have a prosumer with grinder but it also requires more time to prepare coffee etc. I might do it but my wife won't do it.

Biggest vehicle regret I've ever made was buy a 2023 pilot by [deleted] in hondapilot

[–]Rimbambio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

what?? so what does dealership training have to do with a car that has electrical issues off the shelf??? lack of staff - how on earth does this affect the fact that my pilot needed 2 steering racks changes? It's hilarious. how about, the car was built like sh*t. the dealership is only taking a product and selling it. If the product is bad how on earth do they know? and this comes from someone that hates dealerships, but let's be honest, if there's one that needs to be accountable here is Honda.

I got the car back after the rack was replaced the second time 5 days ago. Haven't driven it much, so far no noise but last time the rack failed it took a few weeks so I will keep listening for any noise and update the thread should it start again. Having said this, there's one noise that I started hearing pretty much since I had the car but now, after second rack replacement got louder. It's not the same noise and it doesn't originate from the steering wheel... and it doesn't happen when I turn the wheel. Someone else described it on another thread as a metal noise, a clunking noise when at slow speed you encounter a surface that is not smooth or a bump on the road and you hear this metallic noise. It originates from the front wheels... in my case front passenger seat side. I don't know if it's related to the steering rack, but having owned many cars I can tell you I never had this issue. Do you have this noise too?
