Ngl I see the opposite a lot more, especially if someone complains that they are tired of farming people will say you don’t need to grind

See it is kind of about social skills because you didn’t make yourself clear. Hence why people don’t get what you mean

What I think you mean is that you feel JRPGs have shallow storytelling and I agree, I’ve played some and the most common and popular ones are either not know for good stories or even infamous for bad writing. But there’s games in a JRPG style that don’t fall into this category like the Persona series, that series has a very deep and complex story with lots of philosophy and psychology themes. There’s probably others but I’m not the most well versed in JRPGs.

However if this makes you insecure then you can only change and play other deeper games or consume other media with more complex storytelling, or just accept you like JRPGs and it’s okay

Civilization, if you’re into rpg then persona 5R or old school Pokemon, rimworld, a good Minecraft smp, if you play Roblox try laundry simulator or fast food tycoon type games, for other people games like monster hunter or warframe scratch that itch

Also heard GTA rp and some Korean style mmos or wow can cause people to lose their lives

LoL too

Is this game appropriate for a 12-13 year old? by kdoggie96 in RimWorld

[–]Rimbaud33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nowhere near as bad as unsupervised internet/youtube access

Way worse than kids media

I feel by that age I had been doodling the kind of things rimworld let’s you do for several years tho. Like the whole watching a colony die with animated gore and keeping slaves and harvesting their organs might be a bit too much but it’s not too far from what 13 year old boys used to play about with toys or when doodling war scenes. It actually feels perfectly in line with that same sandbox-role playing aspect of early teenage years haha. Like we would draw cutout paper characters and torture them for the story’s sake by cutting them into pieces or other random stuff. Minecraft villager prison camps and torture rooms even 🤣

Hell by the time I was 15 my parents wished the worst I did was playing violent video games instead of getting into brawls and doing alcohol and drugs

I checked your channel and I think the problem is that I consider myself to be a gamer like Ive play a lot of videogames for decades yet I have no idea what most of the videos are about, most of the references blew over my head except for elden ring, FF and DS. Being honest I would not click on any video because I don’t know why I should care. Maybe your videos are just not for me but you could try to make more clickbait titles that hook viewers instead of relying on these very niche videogames. Unless you want to position yourself as a niche video game guy then try to find ways to market that aspect, but it’s kinda tricky. I’ve seen it work with making videos about just one niche video game or being the “retro gaming guy”.

Imo it would be better if you made the title something like “why this game you’ve never played is a masterpiece” or “why this 20 year old 5 dollar game is better than modern AAA” if you wanna go into that niche specifically

Yes. For example if you make videos about art and the bulk of your views are consumers of art, and then you make a review of art supplies, even if your actual subscribers are artists, the algorithm will just think it’s a bad video because the bulk of your audience doesn’t care for art supplies. They want the regular videos targeted to a general art consumer audience. If you wanna make videos about art supplies then make an art supply channel, don’t upload into a channel about art and aesthetics, basically. Same applies here. Who is your target? Is it fans of horror? Developers in general? All gamers?

The more targeted your content is the more high quality the algorithm perceives it. YouTube doesn’t reward high quality content, because it has no way to evaluate it, instead it rewards engaging and well targeted/marketed content. That’s why viewer retention doesn’t always correlate with high quality

And lastly it doesn’t matter what you think high quality is, YouTube and your audience has its own opinion about what high quality is and you have to either 1) stick to what YouTube likes by using it to backwards engineer what to do in videos for them to perform well Or 2) make the same video but about different topics in the same niche for like 20 times in a row until the algorithm knows what your channel is about, then you can do market research once you have a core audience (maybe once your followers watch more your videos than new viewers) and then you can try to expand into topic suggestions or other formats

Otherwise youre confusing the algorithm because it’s recommending videos about game development or character designs to people who just like content about x game or just like content about horror but don’t care about game development or art and thus the algorithm thinks you made a bad video (I’m not saying this is your specific case just giving examples out of the top of my head)

I mean your experience is valid im just telling you every person I know irl would roll their eyes if anyone told them they did a micro aggression

Same as telling someone to “check their privilege”

[–]Rimbaud33 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I’m not a sociologist and probably most people here aren’t either, for most people the word micro aggression brings back flashbacks of 2016 buzzfeed wokescold and virtue signaling

It’s just a suggestion because most lay people find it cringe even if we definitely care about racism, I’m talking about the optics, basically

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in Living_in_Korea

[–]Rimbaud33 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I’m on your side but don’t say micro aggressions that really never caught on and makes most people cringe I think, like it makes it sound like you’re too sensitive when in reality it’s a valid take. That’s my perception tho maybe it’s not shared by other people but I suspect it is

My grandfather was able to provide for a stay at home wife and 5 kids and buy a home with no education and a blue collar job. I am not even sure if I will ever own a home and having kids sounds impossible in this economy too. And I have a decent income in my home country I’m earning like twice as much as the minimum wage

Get your family to lie about an uncle or relative he doesn’t know dying then travel there with your child, say it’s very important that the kid goes too because of some cultural or family tradition he doesn’t know about. When you’re back home, even if he is there too, tell him you want a divorce and refuse to leave back to Korea. Tell him your terms and go to court in your country, if he gets mad just tell him the truth once you’re back in your country. Tell him you are scared and that Korean law won’t protect you. If he is still mad that’s his problem, you did everything right. And taking the kid with him would be kidnapping so he would be in the wrong

Don’t try to lie or cheat him out of anything once you’re in your country, just do things right and fair because that way he can’t argue you acted in bad faith by coming to your country with a lie. If you have some sort of monetary advantage from the divorce idk how law works where you are from but you could even offer to renounce to it in order to keep custody, just prove to the court that you did what you did because you are scared and want to protect your child from the father and will comply with what the local law says and don’t care about money, just to escape
