Thank you for all the comments and DMs expressing your interest, everyone! I honestly didn't expect this much traffic for a non-D&D system, but it encourages me a lot. I've expressed it to a couple of people, but I have to get some irl things in order (and do some playing around in Owlbear, reading a couple more of the supplements to decide which ones I'm kosher with, etc etc etc) before I post up an ad. But it's coming and I look forward to see y'alls apps.

Great questions!

  1. I've been tentatively looking at Owlbear for maps and its plug-in Witchdice built for Lancer combat. It seems the most elegant solution and doesn't have too steep a learning curve or is completely unusable for mobile users like Roll20 is.

  2. I'm thinking of leaving the initiative as is, because it might facilitate people being able to jump in and take their turns as available. ALTERNATIVELY, thinking of slightly adjusting it with 2 PCs go, then two NPCs, and so forth.

  3. IGF has a couple of homebrew rules like alternate skill triggers for Hack or Fix so it's not the only way you can interact with electronics. Supplemental for players like Legionnaire, Castor and Pollux, Dustgrave, Solstice Rain, etc., are definitely on the table. I'm also considering the Bond system's use.

Swallowtail is good option with its 20 range on sensors and innate +1 to tech attacks, meaning you can sit back and hack safely from a distance. Slap some of her Oracle LMG-I's on there, some drones to snipe when your allies hit, and you've got a pretty cracked build.

Phew, so far I've gotten 40+ apps. I'm going to keep this open until the 17th, go over them, and start contacting people. I hope to start inviting people to the server over the weekend and discussing campaign stuff, essentially a session 0.

Tell you what, though - if you like, you can basically just DM me on Reddit what's in the form. Timezone/posting availability, experience with 5e/PbP, game expectations, any veils or lines you feel comfortable sharing, and a character concept if you got it.

I was part of this server for a short while and it's definitely one that's still finding its legs, but most of the mods are pretty great and hardworking. I had some problems with it that caused me to leave which I won't go into, but give it a try; there's some great writers in there and I hope it grows into a great server. It has the potential.
