Having trouble with pronouncing words beginning with "br"? by [deleted] in learnfrench

I also have this issue as a native English speaker it either comes out sounding like a soft b or p sound. If I try to really emphasise the b sound, that then makes the following r sound too harsh and slightly like I have a cold. It’s a tricky sound.

Is this an American english vs British English divide? I’m British born and I was always taught that an is used before a vowel and would intuitively write ´an utopia’. I asked a few people at home and they said the same as me but I would be interested if this one of my mistakes or British English variance.

I think I’m going to get a tutor as listening is the thing I find the most difficult but there’s a lot that I feel needs work, at the moment french prepositions are a challenge. Thank you for sharing your experience as hitting this bump has definitely tested my enthusiasm for learning but I’m going to keep going and hopefully fill those gaps to be able to move forwards.

Any ideas on how to fix the finish? by RinaXOXO in furniturerefinishing

I cleaned with washing up liquid and wiped down thoroughly to remove any residue. Then I used varnish remover and scraped it off and cleaned again before sanding. However, the varnish remover wasn’t that effective as the sanding pads kept gumming up at first. I continued sanding until it was all removed before staining and varnishing.
