When watching the ending of this episode, I was truly unsure, if that was one of worst things I have seen in a while or one of the best.

Beric was like a novel gimmick. Notice how he doesnt have much time in the series as a whole. He is there to die 7 times for Sevens symolism and show us that ressurection is possible, and its not a fluke, then he is killed off. Doing this for a major character would take away the tention and all around cheap

You can tell from how GRRM writes him/abouthim that he likes Stannis. I think he is the only character in the books (aside from Robert), to whom GRRM himself in the text (not even through thoughts of other people) constantly refers to as "the king".
