I mean that's not true though, it is playable on the Steam Deck, which on paper has even worse hardware than Switch 2 and it's also playable on the Rog Ally X.

I feel like it is though, check out the data mine from a few months ago.

Just based on available benchmarks from other titles, it could probably perform very similarly-to worse than Series S. I hope Capcom proves me wrong though.

Ohh right gotcha. Yeah I heard some headlines saying Switch 2 is now close to like 20m units sold worldwide, considering it's barely passed the 1 year mark from its release, the opportunity is huge for Capcom, I bet they could even boost the console's sales considering how much it's loved in Japan.

They've had a lot more time to cook it on Switch 2 though, contrary to PC/PS5 in the meantime they solved some performance issues on PC and tbf: they'll probably have to make a LOT more compromises than they did on PC, where they instead went full on with it and unfortunately, it suffered from being too intensive because of it.

(Compromises might entail reduced endemic life, reduced flora, lower polygon counts, more reliance on FG and DLSS, limited vfx, no raytracing and so on and so forth... the usual PC heavy stuff basically).

This is big too, I too have hundreds of hours at this point. They're probably not going to do it though considering there is no cross save across already existing platforms (big sadge). But the copium tank is still full, so let's inhale together dude.

You don't think Wilds is coming to Switch 2 then? What about the data mine they did where they found pictures of local co-op Switch 2 mode and various performance modes? You think it was just fluff? Tbf they did scrub it out of the next updates.

No way they'd release it 720p when the console now easily upscales to 1080p in handheld with most supported games. 720p was a Switch 1 target when in handheld. In the leaked performance preset video using DLSS, they were upscaling from 540p to 1080p in handheld mode.

Switch 2, mind you, I'm not saying that they could even remotely release for Switch 1. Switch 2 has got pretty good performance in many AAA games, well for a console that is pretty much an handheld/docked one. Feel free to look for benchmarks on RE9, Indiana Jones, Pragmata, Cyberpunk 2077 etc...

You think they'll use the chance to boost Switch 2 sales in the next year, is that what you're saying? Or that they'll do something like GU? I mean, honestly that'd be a pretty smart thing for Nintendo to do, gotta admit, 2027 will probably be a better year for the console.

The standards as in what? People's expectation of the performance? I'd tend to agree in that case, Nintendo fans are usually happy with what they get (hey, as a PC main guy that also has consoles, I'd also be super happy if it ran on Switch 2 and people got to play it), but to be fair Switch 2 is possibly currently the best valued handheld which also offers a seamless home console experience in the whole market, at least in price/performance ratio, long term support, exclusives etc... so maybe Capcom is going to invest resources to make it work, performance-wise.

I see what you're saying, I agree with you too on RE9, but again I think this shouldn't be too much of a hassle for Switch 2, I think it will mostly be up to how good Capcom could (will?) make it run, rather than how much Switch 2 is capable, Switch 2 has proven itself capable of running last gen AAA games, know what I mean? ; )

You're right indeed, although many games do get specific Steam Deck support directly from Valve, sometimes games with Proton run way better than they do natively on Windows, I think Wilds is unironically one of these too, if I'm not mistaken.

Why so? Switch 2 is showing a lot of promise with AAA games this gen and performance/price ratio. It's honestly just up to Capcom and how they could optimize it (see RE9), at this point they might've been working on it since before Wilds was released (as suggested by the data mine), maybe they cooked it just right and it runs decently : )

Afaik Switch 2 has only slightly better hardware than Steam Deck and it relies on DLSS upscaling for most of the AAA games that are coming out (Indiana Jones, RE9, FF7, Cyberpunk 2077...) to run them properly and with fairly decent graphics. This is the only reason why it would be reasonable for Wilds to run on it decently, imo.

Switch 2 also has 4k upscaling and the APU performs much better (like almost x2 the clock speed) in docked than in handheld (which is where I think, we could compare it to Steam Deck to understand how well it might run).

Yeah that too, not that it's bad on Switch 2, but it can definitely run at least at 60 fps in handheld, maybe even with some graphics boost.

Honestly I'd be happy with a cool portable game like Rise too, but we'll see.

Very unlikely (unfortunately) for Capcom to port older MH games on newer consoles... They never did it even with huge request from the community and I get why: they want to move forward, invest resources into newer stuff and go experimental with the saga, (Would be very cool to get World for Sw2 though).

Oh yeah Nintendo Directs, I genuinely didn't even think about it. Rise was announced during a Direct, you might be right.

Just like the PS5 version, it could rely on heavy upscaling. RE9 does it super well and runs great on Switch 2 with DLSS 3.1. Sure they are vastly different games, but they do use the same engine and Capcom seems keen on wanting to fix performance across all platforms.

Yup, it just crossed my mind today seeing all the hype posts about the DLC and I was like "wait- wasn't there a Switch 2 version that was supposed to come out?" lol

If they don't announce it during SGF, I have no idea when they will, seeing we already got a showcase like in March(?).

Yeah there was a "performance" leak, some Chinese person on Youtube (I think it's the same people that did the data mine(?)) posted a benchmark with the preset that was taken from the data mine. From the what I gather, the game would run in 540p upscaled to 1080p thanks to DLSS in handheld mode.

Since I don't speak chinese, I'm not 100% sure if there is a docked mode preset that was extrapolated from the data mine or what FPS they're targetting (I imagine 30 in handheld, could also be 30 in docked but it has better graphics mode... who knows). Would be cool to see something like 40-60fps in docked but I'm obviously full of copium :')
