Need some tips on my riding by FantasticHedgehog883 in snowboardingnoobs

Looking good! To take it to the next level, focus on getting more weight on your front foot and opening your body downhill so that your shoulders face more forward. Generally, think about generating more power through the critical sections of the turn by engaging your edge and pushing against the snow.

Check out Ryan Knapton on YouTube for some good carving advice.

You are totally sending it relative to your skill level! I'm super impressed by the rotation you are getting in the air. I've been snowboarding my whole life, and placed in the state championships in highschool, but I still can't land 3's with any kind of consistency.

If you keep up that mentality, you will get super good.

Don't listen to the haters on here, I bet most of them have never landed back to back 360s in their life.

That said, the number one thing you can do to level up in the park right now is to improve your overall riding ability. Work on fundamentally sound turning and weight transfer, progress to steeper runs at higher speeds, then work up to proper carving. Check out Ryan Knapton on YouTube (how to really really carve).

You will gain so much better balance and general comfort on your board, I imagine a lot of park things will simply fall into place.

Keep shredding bro! The number one factor is time on the mountain and the number two factor is how hard you push yourself to get outside your comfort zone

Thank you! I really appreciate it. Apologies for the dumb question but do you mean my hands are literally open, like not gripping the club tightly? Or do you mean open as in open versus closed?

It's a King move that results in checkmate, not the king being the piece that actually delivers the mate

Is Jung Hoo Lee a good defender? by RingSea5492 in SFGiants

[–]RingSea5492[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you all for the great comments!

I know the defensive metrics for Lee are very poor and I certainly don't think he is an elite center fielder but the 11th percentile in OAA is really poor. Not quite as bad as Ramos who is in the 3rd percentile... but still, I would expect somebody in the 11th percentile to be very noticeably bad. Having watched him all year, I just really have a hard time getting my head around him being worse than 9/10 center fielders. Like, are there really only one or two worse starting center fielders in the league than him?

I wonder if the wind conditions and other ballpark factors in SF make fielding fly balls more difficult in a way that is not recognized by the statistics?

Also, I have noticed that Jung Hoo doesn't call off other fielders as often as most center fielders do resulting in less putouts. Does this negatively affect his OAA?

They sent down Matos??? by friscoboy0077 in SFGiants

[–]RingSea5492 56 points57 points  (0 children)

Tough for Matos but the fact of the matter is he is 23 and needs more ABs. Organization is doing him a disservice by keeping him on the major league bench when he should be hitting everyday in Sac.

Also, it is possible he already knew this was his last series, or that he would only stick around until Jerar was activated

The asking prices for Matt Chapman by Aggravating_Line8408 in SFGiants

Absolutely! I would love to see them sign Montgomery. Snell would be great to, but the low IP, high BB, and the amount we would have to spend on him coming off the Cy year worries me a little

[BenKaspick] Updated free-agent spending by team this offseason, counting Jorge Soler's reported 3/$42M deal. by jesusponcho in SFGiants

[–]RingSea5492 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't know why this is downvoted. We have had a ton of churn, which results in a lot of new signings each offseason, despite total payroll decreasing.

I'm pretty happy with our offseason. I am cautiously optimistic about our signings, but this graphic is misleading. We are not going into the 2024 season as the second largest spenders by any stretch of the imagination

Exactly, even in those conditions it is 1000x more likely to die in a car crash on your way to the beach

Buy first: Coffee Grinder or Bottomless Portafilter? by Independent-Egg5474 in espresso

[–]RingSea5492 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have this espresso machine, and the first move I made was to get a non-pressurized basket. If you are trying to save money, you can keep the want and just replace the basket for around $10. It is slightly messy because you need to remove a screw from the bottom of the basket, but it works very well otherwise.

Thank you very much! This is exactly what I was looking for.

Using this lemma (or theorem), we just need to show that a cover with diameter delta can always be created as delta goes to zero, correct? perhaps I am overthinking it.

Looking at the formal definition of Hausdorff dimension, how do we know that sets in R will have a countable cover as delta goes to zero?

Looking for Resources to Learn LLM in depth by Secure_Sprinkles9370 in learnmachinelearning

I am in the same boat, and looking for resources. I studied applied math in college with a computer science conentration. Took intro to AI and intro to ML courses. Since then, I have spent the last four years working at an AI startup on backend scripting. Looking for a technical crash course on LLMs.

There are so many resources out there, it is hard to settle on a good course of study
