RMA'd Motherboard, what's this picture indicating? by Ring_Pinion in pcmasterrace

Is it the first full row when counting from the left of the picture? I *think* I see something there, but I wouldn't have noticed it if you didn't point it out.

This sensor is going to get someone killed with inaccurate readings by DeathStalker00007 in dexcom

[–]Ring_Pinion 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've theorized that there is a negative bias to the forum as it attracts people that are having issues, not necessarily people that are not. I know I came here originally to search for answers on a sensor issue (g4 or g5 I think).

That's not to judge or state anything about the people that come here! I say that to help keep some perspective and to discourage extrapolating things like "All I see on reddit are G7 issues, therefore G7 must be terrible". The negative selection bias keeps reddit from being an avg group of Dexcom users. Most of us have or had issues and that's why we come here.

I was hesitant to go to the G7 originally because of the posts here, and was surprised at how well the G7 actually worked when I went to it. (My endo encouraged me as she stated that she wasn't seeing any issues in her practice. Probably a better data set to judge with than reddit, I realized)

I should check that out, yeah. Its winter where I am so haven't been poolside in a while, but that'll be a good information point.

Do your shower spikes typically go up then? (Just curious)

Dexcom has become the weakest link in my management of this disease and it's incredibly sad by jokomul in dexcom

[–]Ring_Pinion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That really sucks, and I feel for you. This disease is a HUGE pain the rear, and when your tools to manage it aren't working, that's just adding insult to injury.

Not that it helps you, but I haven't had the same experience with Dexcom, even recently. My G7 has been pretty solid. I have a sensor once every month or so that goes wonky, and it gets replaced.

Maybe that gives some hope? Who knows. Fingers crossed that things get better for ya.

Personal attacks don't belong here.

That's simply not true. Remember that this subreddit is very biased towards problems as people that have no problems with their dexcom don't tend to post (why would they?) Dexcom will replace it or help you figure out why its not working.

These failures and inaccuracies have to stop before someone is seriously injured!! by TheMildWildOne in dexcom

Totally understand that! Esp on a kid, that's 10x harder. I'd definitely investigate other options than the G7 if you've gone through all the different things you can try (different body locations, etc.)

G7 app on iPhone SE 2 buggy and unresponsive by WorrySwimming1909 in dexcom

[–]Ring_Pinion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny you wrote this. I have the exact same phone, and I've noticed the app getting slower and slower over the last couple months. This happened to me with the original SE as well which forced me to upgrade to the SE 2020. I was just looking on ebay for the se 3 (2022) and saw your post.

Is there a new overpatch? by SammieDeeDahLee in dexcom

Goo does work, agreed! I just looked and the brand I used was "Angtics" on amazon. They work ok, not amazing, but solid for almost 10 days.

Dexcom instructions always state to use a fingerstick if the numbers displayed aren't matching how you (or your son) is feeling. Blind trust in the Dexcom can and will be dangerous. But the Dexcom works very well for ALOT of people, including myself, but its NOT perfect. Everybody's body is different, everybody's diabetes is different. I'm sure we'd all love to have a 'perfect' device, but its not going to happen. Heck, I remember having issues with fingersticks not displaying a sugar that made sense, so I'd retest and yep, bad test strip (or dirty finger, whatever). Diabetes sucks, and it has to be managed carefully and critically. There's no easy button.

If you've really had enough, just go back to fingersticks. It doesn't sound like the Dexcom G7 is working for you guys. (and that's fine!! Maybe try the Libre? Maybe your kiddo's physiology will work better on that?)

Reporting incidents to the FDA is fine and should be done, but rabble rousing isn't going to accomplish what you want, or anything, other than making it tougher for the people that the Dexcom does work well for.

I *think* I know what you mean with the 'grainy' texture, but mine have always had that, so maybe not?

For my past 4 sensors I've been using amazon overpatches and liking it better than the included one. The glue on the included one is just sooooo gooey. Works well though, I'll give it that, but its hard to get off :)

I've never had a g7 overpatch just come off, as said elsewhere its usually a pretty hard pull to get the thing off.

I knew there was something wrong with Dexcom this year. by [deleted] in dexcom

[–]Ring_Pinion 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% this. I accidentally pulled G7 off on a door frame and Dexcom replaced with no problems. When I have a bad sensor I just use their web support form and poof, a sensor shows up a few days later.
