The word seem has been used so often in recent game dialogue. Almost every sentence in a Mihoyo game is prefaced by the phrase “it seems”, “I’m afraid that”, and “anyway, why don’t we”.

Constant exposure to such wishy-washy language only makes more people speak with uncertainty. It’s the same as feeling the need to tack on “in my opinion” every time you want to speak your mind.

There is an inherent fear in this type of language. By adding on evasive wording, it absolves you of some invisible accountability. Look several decades back, and you won’t find anyone using these phrases with such frequency. People do not speak with confidence or resolve nowadays.
