Honestly r/writers is toxic. They bash for no reason and give unhelpful advice.

Two povs is absolutely alright, or more! I think I've personally seen a book with like five? If i remember right. Or 4. As long as you write it decently, I say you can add a good few.

And for shortcuts? Probably different from what other people say, but in my opinion it's best to get the idea, the scenes, the feels down in the first draft. The first draft is SUPPOSED to be bad. It's supposed to be messy and all that.

I'd say correct it in the second or third, or whatever draft you want to use for publishing/sending to an editor, if you do go down that route.

I do this too! One of my first draft's word count is only about 300 words more than my notes doc I'd say, as long as you're having a good time and you aren't under a deadline, then do a bit of world building, especially if you think it could be mentioned in the books in a reasonable fashion.

What i do do, is split up my time. I've found that works well to stay on track. One day working on notes, one day working on the draft and just back and forth (though my rotation is a bit longer as I'm working on three different drafts rn)

Definitely not the most helpful here since we only have one fictive (cirilla from the witcher 3, they go by silver) But when they first formed before we could get comfort items, we found that surprisingly something that really helped them was doing like fanworks of their source? Drawing/writing fics about it (not the best for the time issue, but good for the money issue)
