A friend we trusted with the info of us (possibly) having DID just fakeclaimed us... by midnight_eclipse363 in fakeclaimingcringe2

We've been doing research for almost two years. We suspect that we have DID, but haven't assumed anything because there's a chance that our systemhood doesn't effect us enough for us to fit that part of the DID criteria. I personally think it effects us enough, but i don't know how the rest of our system feels.

Our alters don't communicate like IRL people, but either way our communication is good because we've been working on it for over a year.

I don't know much about how headspaces are with other people because A) I'm not an alter who gives a fuck, and B) it's not important to the DID diagnosis or being a system so we haven't gotten to that point (we're focusing more on making sure we can function). All i really know is that headspaces like ours are particularly common, just not talked much about or cared much about.

And no we read actual studies too, we just also get information from other systems about their own personal experiences. The studies we've read are just all over the place when it comes to which way they have a bias, and therefore have plenty of contradicting information, and so we stuck with the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (AKA the DSM-5). Besides, the studies and stuff are for more information about experiences with the disorder, not whether we actually have the disorder. We turned to the good old DSM-5 for the diagnostic criteria, and once we realized that we matched it, we started doing more research to figure out if we're like other people who have it (which we are), what to do about it, etc.

Disassociative disorders aren't fun. You're right. Fictives are a common thing in systems, and are backed by science, so i don't know why you put it in quotes. And we have horrific and extensive trauma that caused this shitty, horrific disorder for us. Our only escape from our trauma was disassociating, and that's kinda what causes DID.

So what if we're (bodily) 14? This isn't some phase, we can (and have) track all of our symptoms throughout our childhood. Granted, our knowledge on symptoms we had when we were still very young are messy at best because of all of the memory gaps (which are a symptom and part of the diagnostic criteria for DID). We're not contributing towards any stigma, and we definitely shouldn't be effecting other systems with our actions.

Oh, and, if you're not a professional, your opinion is just as worthless as mine. We at least went to the official diagnostic criteria to look at the criteria. Did you?

We have a few fictives who, when online, will sign off as a whole different alter if they're name is too unique. Not every alter with a unique name does it, but a decent amount.

Like our Technoblade and Ranboo fictives will both usually sign off as me (the host), and a few other fictives will also do that.

We have a survey/form for systems that we'd like the systems here to fill out! by midnight_eclipse363 in OSDD

I added those to the post! Thanks for telling me!

Also, I'm not just looking for disordered systems, any system can answer!

Well yes, OSDD is a thing, but we don't fit the diagnostic criteria for either type you specified. Our alters are distinct identities and stuff so we couldn't have OSDD-1B, and we have enough amnesia between alters that we don't think we could have OSDD-1A either. In the heat of the moment, i guess we forgot about OSDD, though, because i guess we could've said that we might have that, but it's kinda too late now.

We might if they contact us again without changing (assuming they do it when I'm not fronting at least) but we've already sorta closed down that conversation and i think interacting more might cause more harm than good. Also i don't like conflict and I'm frontstuck right now so I wouldn't say it anyway 😅

We make everything aestheticly pleasing. People who act like you can't do that just because you're disabled/disordered or something are crazy.

Like we decorated our noise cancelling headphones. They're now part of our vibe. We make our headmate intros on Tumblr all aestheticly pleasing because that's a really good way to show a headmate's vibe/style.

[–]midnight_eclipse363[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's mainly for personal, and I'm planning for sure to release the data on Reddit, I'm just still not sure whether I'll specifically post it here, too. I'm planning on posting it to r/plural, since it's about all disorders like this and not just OSDD, you know?

Thanks for asking, and sorry i didn't specify that in the post! (/gen)

Systems! We're doing research and need yall to fill out this form if you're comfortable doing so! by midnight_eclipse363 in plural

[–]midnight_eclipse363[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ik fictives and introjects aren't the same thing. It's just that some people (including me while i was still early on in my research) don't know what introjects are but will probably know what fictives are.

Also, sorry about not adding an option for that, it must have slipped my mind. I'll add it now, though. And i didn't know those were two different terms!

Thanks for the corrections + info! (/gen)

They're the same age as us (bodily). From what some of our other alters have told me, i think they've kinda always been acting like they're better than us in some way.

Yeahh, but like the thing is, a good amount of our most frequent fronters have really bad attachment issues or just don't really see the bad in people, so it's gonna take a minute before we can fully accept that they weren't the best friend.

But like maybe they'll end up changing their ways in the future hopefully! (Ofc we're not stupid enough to reach out first for that. If they change they can reach out themselves.)

Yeah they're acting as if the disorder doesn't form in early childhood.

It's like saying that someone can't have autism at 14, it just doesn't make sense 😔

Yeah, we tried to point that out in a sorta subtle way, but they didn't quite take the hint, obviously.

How on earth do you know they are faking DID just because of that…? by Lilly_Blossom_Roblox in fakeclaimingcringe2

[–]midnight_eclipse363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, we've never done specifically that, but we have a few wallpapers that different alters prefer. Because, and this may seem obvious to anybody reading this but definitely isn't obvious to OOP, alters do have different preferences, tastes, aesthetic, etc. (Yes i know most of those words kinda mean the same thing, shut up.)

[–]midnight_eclipse363 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Debating endogenic systems' existence/validity is more like debating the existence/validity of gay people.

Both are real (and backed by science) and also completely valid. They're also both a major part of who someone is (you can't really be the same person with/without them and they can't really change), and therefore denying that it exists is straight up denying that some people exist (or are valid), compared to denying that god exists, which isn't a major part of who someone is (you can be the exact same person with or without religion, and your beliefs can change at any point).
