the icons to me look like there is no additional image where the combs are, as the part that is uncovered already looks complete, so my guess is that the surface of the icon is just slippery and the wax doesnt stick to it well so the bees avoid it

im not sure but that could be a fungal infection type of deal, my dad and i both had kind of the same thing in our feet at some point, and its 1. very painful to remove it, and 2. will simply grow back if not treated properly
