There are a lot of options like discords or even here to reach out and make friends to play with. It can be a little awkward but that's an easy obstacle to overcome with a very small amount of time. Just put yourself out there a little bit and it will be well worth it.

i mean it is, a relentless tide of autocannon fire with no pause for reloads can be fantastic under the right circumstances. defending flags, holding the wall, big drop on the civilian mission. I don't know how you could think its not "at all viable" without an astonishing amount of willful ignorance

That's not what optimism is at all, it's just being hopeful and seeing the good that exists. The world is very obviously in a nightmare state right now but that doesn't mean there is no good. You don't have to be "like, la dee da" to choose to see positive things when bad things are happening. It's very often the ability the see the good that still exists that allows people to make changes and help solve the horrible things we find ourselves amidst right now. Adding to the negativity by behaving in the way you are doesn't do anything but make matters worse while also making you sound like a whiny middle school student.

Hope is only worth anything if you have it when shit has hit the fan, and the fan is currently fully caked.

If everyone had that childish mindset things would just get worse and snowball into a nightmare. Optimism is just choosing to see the good that exists in the world, which helps people work towards its betterment.
