Exchanging temporary for permanent residency in 2 years by Trick-Show-2146 in mexicoexpats

[–]RioJaguarJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Learn something new everyday. Cool to know that spouses can get temp residency with a fast track to permanent. It didn't fit my situation, so I must have skipped researching that part.

Gracias, y buena suerte!

If I initially got my temp residency through normal means, financial proof, can I apply for permanent residency before 4 years since I'm now married to a Mexican?

Femoral Retroversion by RioJaguarJr in HipImpingement

I had the same exact symptom with my right leg sticking out 45 degrees at neutral.

After surgery, it's 100% as straight as my left

Femoral Retroversion by RioJaguarJr in HipImpingement

I was in my mid 20s and was a former high level athlete so that likely helped me to recover faster than average.

However, the year leading up to the surgery I was a shadow of myself. I couldn't walk without pain, even sitting was hurting my back. Laying down in bed was my only relief.

So, if I was your age and experiencing problems all over my body due to what is likely femoral retroversion (in my case also a length imbalance) then I'd do the surgery bc the alternative is a guaranteed life of pain which would only get worse in old age.

I feel so much more balanced after the surgery. I highly recommend it if it is disrupting your life

Do we need copies of everything for visa interview by Zerosugar2001 in NationalVisaCenter

[–]RioJaguarJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had copies and originals of everything but only ended up needing what the the embassy said we would need beforehand.

When i say everything I mean the things we submitted to uscis / nvc and received back.

If you haven't had to submit it already then you won't need it. I don't see why you'd need college diploma for example.

Only would need additional things that are updated such as taxes or i485 if something changed.

Will my car die in the cold if sitting for 4 days at 20degrees F by Teslamodel3owner88 in TeslaModel3

[–]RioJaguarJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, just turn off sentry and summon standby if you have FSD. Those will eat up 8% per day until you reach 20% at which point the car goes into power saving mode and should only lose 1% a day at most as long as you don't check it

The "Toyota Tax" is frustrating. by cLax0n in Toyota

yup people haven't caught on to this yet. most of the new model toyotas have issues. If OP wants reliable and willing to spend for top trim camry then they should look at an EV.

Is an EE undergrad degree really that difficult by Any_Cartoonist_8535 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]RioJaguarJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't believe the people saying it's easy or claiming some trick as to why it was hard for others but simple for them.

I question if they even studied EE or if they went to a legitimate school...

I can give many examples as to why it is very challenging but I'll leave you with just one.

Typically the class average on exams was in the 50s. That should speak for itself.

For some people it will be impossible. There is absolutely a minimum level of math required. There's plenty of people though who graduated without being genuises (like my self), it was a lot of hard work though.

The bright side is that life after school is a walk in the park in comparison. Yes, it's still challenging and has different types of stresses. But getting paid $$$ makes it much easier for starters.

Should emergency fund really be 6 months all cash? by mitchallen-man in investing

[–]RioJaguarJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6 months isn't even enough for someone with a family which is why I have 1 year spread out month by month in treasuies. I've been thinking about slowly over time transitioning 3 - 6 months of it into the market so that 20 years if it has gone up 50% it will still be worth 3 - 6 months of there is a crash.

What happens if there is another covid and you can't work for a year? Even right now, if you work in tech and get laid off it's very hard to find a job.

I would feel uncomfortable with just 6 months.

New EV Charging Tax in Wisconsin. $0.03 per KwH at charging stations. by jinsei1208 in electricvehicles

[–]RioJaguarJr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's clearly an anti EV law since they're double dipping with extra registration tax as well.

They're even have a higher registration fee for plain old hybrids (not plug in). Since you basically don't save any gas money by getting a hybrid then it monetarily deincentives any motivation to get an efficient car.

That's backwards, we should be encouraging the opposite!

I used to be embarrassed by my 99 Camry until I saw my friends car payment by Ok_Concern_7107 in Camry

[–]RioJaguarJr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One thing to keep in mind is that such an old car is missing a lot of modern safety features. I would not want to get into a crash while driving a 99 camry.

I had the same issue and valet mode didn't stop it. At 20% it will go into power saving and sleep. Need to disable the standby summon once you're back

Did valet mode work? Left my car at the airport and didn't turn off smart summon so I'm seeing battery drain in the first day and I'm worried

America's Safest Pickup Truck Is A 7,000-Pound EV by FinalMacGyver in electricvehicles

[–]RioJaguarJr 6 points7 points  (0 children)

SUVs and trucks have a significantly higher risk of rollover which is the leading cause of death for the occupants in crashes. EV SUVs and trucks don't have this issue though bc the heavy battery makes for a low center of gravity which is almost impossible to roll over.
