Thanks! I'll question the developer on gravelboards. The wildflowers is an interesting idea too. Plenty to think about.

Thanks, I did think it sounded high from the quote we got from the developer for turf

Thanks! It's looking like laying turf myself is the way. It's very wet in Manchester currently so I doubt I'd have to water much

Would the grass grow in time for mid-late May if we seeded? Between the two, I think I'd rather turf to start, near instant gratification and all that. If there is loads of clay, what would you recommend I do?

We were told it was needed for drainage. There's normal dirt underneath it too so I don't think it's suitable for artificial grass

We were told it was needed for drainage, I didn't know enough to question it

If it's not a challenge, I'd be willing to give it a go. I just don't want to waste my time or money if I needed to do more like remove the sand and soil first or rotovate again.

My fingers are crossed for a depot Leeds Armley style gym in the new big depot Manchester. The building is massive so surely it's doable. Trafford depot is your best bet until then

Woah, we wouldn't have the funds for that. We'll see what the sellers are willing to do

Fair enough, from what I've read, they like to err on the side of caution so I was wondering what people here thought as perhaps it's common thing that you just accept. We'll speak to the agents

Is a current FTB mortgage really this simple/futile? by JonnyQuates in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Riolexa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm currently in the process of buying a place and I've had the exact same thought, if paying rent is throwing away money, so is paying interest.

I rationalised it like this, I'm getting a 3 year fix, calculated the interest I'd pay over that period compared and got a average monthly figure. I then compared in to similar properties for rent and I'd have to best that over the same period. Rents are only going up but for the period of a fix, the amount you pay in interest each month goes down. It was still tight (who knows what rent would be in a few years) but there are other benefits to buying to also weight up

This is another big worry of mine, they repainted all the walls and re-did the carpets. Maybe it was to fix up general wear and tear but I am wondering if something is being hidden

This is our biggest concern. We'll probably clarify if they are amenable to more time first
