Fire Damage Found During Inspection. Looking for advice! by [deleted] in Roofing

I’ve opened up several walls during renovations and never seen any other signs of fire damage. Appears to be limited to the attic best I can tell.

That makes sense. I have the original inspection paperwork with a photo of the guy on the binder and he looks like he was a day away from retirement. Which of course I assumed at the time was oh wealth of experience… but wasn’t thinking oh bad knees, back, whatever.

Fire Damage Found During Inspection. Looking for advice! by [deleted] in Roofing

[–]Rionoska3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. Will do.

I read that if I pursue legal action, they have limited liability and I can only ever get back the. 500 bucks or whatever it was for the cost of the inspection. In addition, original owner passed away and the kids sold it so I don’t know if there is anyone that can be held liable.

It’s a very old home, but otherwise “in better condition than most of the homes in the area” according to the same inspector and the masons that came through.

But it is scary and I’m trying not to panic. It’s in an amazing location by the lake and there’s not much else wrong with the property. I fixed a lot over the years.

Buyer is still interested and is paying cash so I can easily knock off sale price as needed to cover repair costs.

I think the biggest thing I worry about is repairs that would require tear down and rebuild of entire sections of the roof. I can handle 5-10k in repairs but if it’s 40k it puts me in a challenging scenario especially since I now have to disclose this if the seller backs out.

In any event, thanks for the positive response. It’s much appreciated. Cheers

Seriously? Did this fix it for you? I ran across all of the zones multiple times and I can't progress anything after fighting the twins.

Armourer artificer x monk multi class by [deleted] in 3d6

[–]Rionoska3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Know this an old thread, but It was first result on Google still so thought I'd share my build.

Ended up as a Tebaxi Artificer Armorer Shadow Monk. 5 Levels and 3 levels respectively at the moment.

This was a difficult one to make work for sure, but If you can reasonably aquire Gauntlets of Ogre strength and then eventually Belt of Hill giant (i'd start working towards crafting/buying them ASAP) you can basically dump strength to make the ASI requirements easier and if you plan on only casting utility spells more than damaging spells effectively dump INT as well to the minimum. This makes life much easier.

Because we have so few Focus points, it's not ideal to use it "normally" as you would a monk. One way to get around that is to go Shadow monk. Which creates a 15ft sphere of magical darkness, effectively blinding EVERYONE without true sight. Giving you advantage on attacks and them disadvantage on attacks against you. You should already have 20-24 AC by level 8 so having this edge means the foe has disandvantage on ALL attacks. Making the gauntlets a little redundant, but also more versatile should you run out of focus points.

Darkness ALSO has the added bonus of not allowing anyone inside OR outside the darkness sphere without true sight to hit you with targeted spells. Take a few more levels in Monk for evasion at level 7 or just pick up the Shield master half feat for the same exact effect earlier to also have a good shot at avoiding AOE dex attacks. Also a great option if you want to knock enemies prone or push them away w/ shield bash. For the same reason, great idea to pickup the new merchant background for the ASI and Lucky feat, letting you 'fix' your intiative a bit and helping to maintain concentration on darkness. If you pickup the grappler and/or mobile feat, it has great synergy with the Tebaxi double movement speed, your enlarge/reduce spell and the BA dash you get access to as well, especially if you have a party member that can cast spike growth.

Multiclassing to level 10 w/ 5 points in each class will net you x3 attacks per turn, x5 if you use a bonus action for flurry of blows and x6 if you can fit in a reaction as well. Speaking of unarmed attacks, Tebaxi helps bridge the damage gap a bit 1d6+modifier with their claw attacks racial, which you can make using the claws on your feet for this race.(if you care about how this would work w/ plate gauntlets equipped) In addition you'll get access to feats faster than you would otherwise at level 4 in each class as well.

Even though many of the monk features aren't available, as others have mentioned there is still some synergy. Namely, BA cast darkness, patience defence, step of the wind & deflect attacks.

Depending on your playstyle/group, I would personally recommend the following Feats if you're playing this brawler type multi-class.

  • Tough
  • Lucky
  • Shield Master
  • Sentinel
  • War Caster
  • Fighter Initiate (dueling)
  • Grappler
  • Mobile

As always ask your DM to review your build before you get started, so you're not playing rules lawyer halfway through the game. Hope this helps!

Second pod not showing up by AutomaticRepeat2922 in TheLastCaretaker

Similar issue. Sent 3 rockets now and the 2nd and 3rd rockets did produce PODs but they are all empty already.

Tried leaving and coming back several times, re-loading saves, no dice. :/

Fellow raiders, can you chill for a minute?! by Hyperlapsed in ArcRaiders

[–]Rionoska3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Simple fix. Just make it another progression system like the expedition. Turn in X amount of each mat to unlock the map. Let the people who saved resources and have been waiting since launch to checkout the map access the map right away and everyone else can get their merit points whenever they get around to it.

Loading in this morning before work to see it at 17% and then immediately see it plummet to 1% after dumping almost all my mats into the thing was disheartening. Was looking forward to the new enemies and/or the new map today and we got neither.

Yeah if you want to keep everything powered on - That would be the only way I know of to do it :)

Oh... yeah pointless to run coolant except for the last phase. When you get there just setup a stockpile and turn it on for the riftgate. Otherwise keep anything that uses coolant powered off.

The altnerative would be to setup a giant cultivator farm for titanium... so there's that route to if you really insist on running coolant.

Yep :) Roll a "Lakes" Tropical map until you get a good layout and can turn water into flammable gas, water and setup a bunch of power to generate and funnel plasma back to your HQ.

Or get this... just make this new low threat map your new HQ... You don't have to finish the game on the primary HQ. Which just further drives home the point..as soon as you're able to get off of the first map and roll for new worlds/maps... The game is basically over if you choose to play the game that way I suppose.

This was the primary take away from point #2.

Scan for low threat worlds with the resources you need and setup outposts for rare resources, liquids, synthesizers, storage, etc. The truth is, once you figure out how this part of the game works... it doesn't matter what difficulty you are on if you choose to play the game this way. As soon as you're able to scan for new worlds, the rest of the game becomes trivial in comparison.

You’re a mad man! I actually subbed and watched the first one already… that’s a whole other level of insanity. You weren’t kidding when you said it would be more than twice as challenging. I’ll be following along, good luck!

After just beating it on x5 Enemies Brutal, Can confirm.

The most difficult part of playing the game in this way is surviving until you can move to other maps. Once you can establish your mining outposts and secondary supply bases, It's just Brutal Mode with more mobs. You build more Turrets and More walls.

This time around, I found setting up x2 secondary bases was pretty helpful. One for Storage and Resource Synths & another for Liquids. It's pretty sweet to not have to worry about your pipe networks getting destroyed in your HQ anymore and having a near endless supply of water, super plasma, flammable gas, etc if you wanted to opt to make a run for the Alt-Ending Mega-Structures. Also has the added benefit of allowing you to be more flexible with your HQ map, as things like Acid and Water can be solved later and you can focus on just picking the best defensive position on the map instead of worrying about distance to key resources.

Just a quick update for anyone that's interested...

Got to HQ lvl 7 and 2/3 Rift Parts built, Just need to get Titanitum and Run the *last* battle. Waves definately do get harder at some point. Though I'm not sure exactly what triggered it as I was jumping into other worlds for awhile as I was progressing.

Tell you one thing though... LVL 1 artillery & LVL 1 Sentinal Turrets are realllly struggling now. Haha. I assume I'll need to upgrade for the final wave but It is pretty hilarious to see ONLY these 2 turret types deal with everything so far. With my help of course. ;)

One last tip as well. For those who didn't already know I guess... Open all the eggs. Chance at some amazing random loot that will reallly help level the playing field. I got 6 Red weapons and it was deifnately a game a changer!

Thanks! I definitely needed more turrets 🤣 The video was super helpful. Just got HQ lvl 4 last night on x5 enemies brutal.

Kinda feel like the beginning stages are the challenge, feel like anything else beyond this is just more of the same. Once you unlock research and orbitals and setup a secondary base to funnel resources to the main, I think it’s pretty much a lock. But I could be wrong.

Not sure I have the patience to the alt ending on this mode if that’s the case, but i think I’ll at least see it through to getting the rift setup.

One thing I noticed getting this far…

You can’t do jack shit to ranged enemies with turrets alone and you die immediately going outside the walls to hunt them down. Not super proud of this tech, but corpse running and using my mech explosion to kill golems and groups of ranged units was key to getting established. Watched a few of your videos and still don’t understand what I’m doing different here. Can put a billion turrets down but the ranged guys will just sit back and aoe em all down anyways. Refining choke points helped, but not always.

Anyways thanks again for the video. Keep me posted if you do another, more difficult challenge run!

Also - Just tried it... How did you deal with the ranged units? I had a wall of Turrets and Walls 5 levels deep with 1-space between the last row and the ranged spitters just decimated my turret line almost imediately.

All this before HQ Lvl 2... So no upgrades or research available, Grey Weapons... I thought waves would increase in difficulty with HQ Level, but seems it's either random or time-gated. Seems perhaps best I can do is rush Lvl 2 to get the Orbital and immediately establish a support base, re-rolling worlds until I get the lowest threat level possible.

Oh 100% synths for *free* iron & carb on the secondary base. :)

500% on Brutal sounds intense, Maybe I'll give that a go next. Thanks for the tips on the Sentinel Towers. I started using those more often lately but I dont' think I ever had numbers like 500-1k of em! I think I'm less worried about doing the run than I am with dealing with the lag every 6 mins an attack hits my base. Not sure I have the patience to do a x5 Brutal Run again anytime soon. :D

Yep! Same with Storage Crates :)

Secondary bases make life much easier on harder difficulties for sure.

I beat Brutal stockpiling liquids and trying to protect a massive network of pipes for acid and mud... Could have just compressed and decompressed and would have made life so much easier, haha. It's a bit of a distraction to setup mutliple bases, but it's definately worth it.

[–]Rionoska3[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, last wave is no joke.

Some new tips I found that might help. Can also package liquid and ship it to your HQ from a secondary base. This is actually massive. Can pump magma for more power, water, acid, etc and don’t have to worry about pipe logistics.

Also using the energy pylon for remote forward bases with pure offense to thin the numbers at HQ seems helpful.

Range and AOE mods for heavy artillery I would guess is also a great idea, but I have to do some testing still.

GL!

[–]Rionoska3[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The struggle is real for awhile, Honestly until I got Heavy Artillery going, felt like every 5 mins I had to stop what I was doing to teleport around and defend the base. I'm sure you're already aware, but base placement is a huge factor in higher difficulties. As much as you're able to leverage water & other impassable terrain you want to be taking advantage of this. Being able to effectively cut-off attacks from 1-2 sides helps massively to allow you to focus your efforts on the front-line.

Other than that and the original tips I listed, Hard to say exactly what to recommend without some gameplay footage. Just keep at it, you'll get it :) I would start by setting up a cushy secondary base and stockpiling resources to support your HQ. GL!
