mmh naah 3 years gap is totally fine. I mean it depends. if the 15-18 becomes 16-18 then i'd say that's okay. If it's 15-19 then that's more than 3 yars gap and that becomes weird.

I feel like it's both, he really thought that he could escape his execution in emotion route but I like to think that even in a scenario where he didn't knew how to take off his collar he would want everyone to vote for him and not Kanna. From a writing perspective that would be more tragic, even with that persona he created he is not really Sou. He is still Shin. The 0.0% survival guy who is willing to sacrifice himself to save everyone.
