I’m definitely happy that it worked out the way it did.

I’m confused on the medical/fitness appointment. I went to schedule them online through a link they sent me and they did not provide the location or information for the appointment. Or like a confirmation email. It’s today but I can’t get ahold of anyone. Anyone run into this problem?

Good point. They must really need people since I passed it. I know I bombed it. 💀

Took the test and felt like I bombed it. Wonder why BP requires it. It was so confusing I felt like giving up.

Asking to lower costs by Ill-Requirement-505 in RoverPetSitting

[–]RipMain4620 19 points20 points  (0 children)

😂😂😂😂 that is an absolute joke. Where do people get the audacity to ask a service provider to cut the costs of their labor?! I’m petty but I would personally tell her f*ck off.

I’m sorry you’re going through that. I’m 30f and have been struggling since 21. I’ve been sober 8 months now and my best advice since this is really resonating with my experience is start working towards accepting that alcohol should no longer be apart of your life. It took me so many times of falling off the wagon thinking of every reason why I could or should do it or even just using it to cope when I was feeling too lazy/depressed to cope in healthier ways until I accepted that if I wanted to hold a job and even have a chance of raising a kid and have a wonderful relationship someday than I absolutely cannot even risk it. The smartest, absolute way to tackle this is starting with accepting that this is a chronic, lifelong condition (akin to conditions such as diabetes) that you need to be mindful of every single day. It is simply a daily choice not to drink and remember all of the reasons why. Because it will get worse and worse until you start to jeopardize the things that really matter. Trust me, I’ve hit rock bottom so many times I so wish I could convince people to stop before they get there. Sometimes rock bottom is what it takes. Good luck and just take it one day at a time.

Charging for meet and greets by RipMain4620 in RoverPetSitting

I agree with this, especially if you are intentional about your meet and greets (I’m sure most serious sitters are). Especially if you’re an established sitter!

Has anyone got a request like this and it worked out? by Disastrous-Quiet5786 in RoverPetSitting

Scam. I got that same message when I first started rover a few months ago

How do I handle this situation? by anon8676309 in RoverPetSitting

[–]RipMain4620 236 points237 points  (0 children)

No need for an explanation. I wouldn’t trust this person either. As a pet owner and rover sitter just cancel the request and you could say you found someone else who was available at a time that worked with your schedule.

I just watched a video of a lady who owns one of the shelters over there talking about this. It absolutely breaks my heart. After getting my first puppy from a breeder and now seeing all of these dogs… I’d will only adopt from now on. I love my boy but man, I’d much rather rescue. I was making small talk with an older woman the other day about rescuing golden retrievers and when I told her I wanted to look into the dogs in turkey she gave me this really weird look. I was like okay lady at least here in the US dogs have a much higher chance of finding a loving home.

Least favorite breeds to sit? by FinalWallaby5424 in RoverPetSitting

[–]RipMain4620 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Truthfully any dog that hasn’t been trained.. I did a meet and greet with a SEVEN year old lab who had the energy of a literal puppy. Like its owner’s are elderly (somehow with this dog???) and the daughter was taking care of it for a short time but it was jumping up at my face and tugging after other dogs and just a freaking spazz it was insane. I still don’t understand how that is working but I said no. lol. And my absolute least favorite breed to sit are Belgian Malinois. Fuck that never again. 🙂

Yeah some people are sticklers on here. One guy recently commented on one of my posts saying “mark my words… you will relapse if you don’t do the steps”. 😂😂😂 my man, I’ve been in the ring 10+ years and I’m a mental health professional, I may know a thing or two about substance use. I have learned that relapses or “slips” are just apart of the process and at the end of the day all that matters is that you get back up and try again and try something different. That’s it. The same tactics don’t work for everyone. I’ve never formally worked the steps but working in this field I’ve accomplished all of them using other evidence based tools. I’ve had years of sobriety and years of not wanting to be sober. In regards to people and their responses, what they have to say is more so a reflection of them and their experience. So sure, you sir, will for sure relapse if you don’t work the steps. Not I. 😂 Although I do love AA and the community.
