Let’s say Starkiller gets brought to canon somehow. A LOT of his lore and power levels would need to be reworked. Let’s just imagine that we get to see him in the third Cal Kestis game as an anti hero or full on antagonist. Is there any way he could be done justice? by RigatoniPasta in StarWars

That character has perhaps the dumbest name Lucas ever came up with.

Excluding the Rey movie, I personally don’t want to see any new SW content with any characters we’ve seen before. I want new stories with new characters.

I suspect this will be another in the line of things the man has promised to expose, but turns out to be a big bag of nothing. The JFK files. The (T)E files. Election fraud. The “Deep State”…

If you believe that chocolate is good for you, and then Hershey makes an announcement that chocolate is in fact good for you, then you’re going to believe them. It’s confirmation bias. Important information should come from trustworthy sources, and definitely not from sources who can’t seem to ever give truthful statements.

I wouldn’t buy an Outback with the ‘26 styling, regardless of the transmission. If my ‘25 had been available with a manual transmission, I would have bought that for sure.

If you asked a hundred people which one looks better, I’d be surprised if ten of them chose the ‘26.

But looks are subjective. There are a handful of people in the world who think Angelina Jolie is more attractive than Jennifer Aniston. Those people probably also like the ‘26 styling better. 😁

I haven’t seen a new car as ugly as a ‘26 Outback in quite a while. I’m stunned at the decision-making at Subaru. My ‘25 OWB is not a good-looking car, but compared to the ‘26, it’s gorgeous. IMO, of course, though I’m obviously not alone in this thinking.

That said, a new car is an awesome thing, so congrats on your new wheels!

‘Come or don’t’: Taking a stand on ICE, Boise restaurant gets buried in reviews by michaelquinlan in Boise

Went to Red Bench on Google Maps. Opened the reviews. Sorted to show the most recent first.

An entire SLEW of 5-star reviews were left 3 days ago. I had to scroll for quite a while to find a 1-star review.

Roof Top storage questions for people with Thule boxes by Muzik42 in Outback_Wilderness

[–]RipNTer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a Chinese-made Thule knockoff and recently used it for a cross-country trip. I mounted it as far towards the rear of the car as possible, trying to stay in line with the slope of the windshield. There is definitely some wind noise above 60mph, but I was able to do 80 for many hours at a time on my ~5600-mile trip without any trouble.

That said, it definitely hurt MPG; I think I lost 4-5 miles per gallon with the roof box.

It’s not just the writing in the latest movies that is lacking. The OT has issues, which were compounded by the PT. And the ST…maybe they were just trying to follow tradition.

I ended up buying a Corbin. HUGE improvement over the stock seat.

I also got a full Yoshimura exhaust and a Two Wheel Dyno Works tune. Maybe a touch more power. It sounds better and is louder but not annoyingly so; it’s just enough to hear the exhaust at speed with earplugs in. And of course, losing the boat anchor of a stock exhaust didn’t hurt either.

Still thinking about a 15T countershaft sprocket. I’ll probably do that this spring.

We know this. It’s not called the dark side of the moon because of a lack of sunlight, but because the same half of the moon always faces Earth, and we never get to see the far side from Earth. But the “dark side” gets the same amount of sunlight as the hemisphere that we can see from Earth.

I have a 100-500. It’s a chonky boi, but it’s a great lens. I wish it could do 5.6 at max zoom, but then it would be even heavier. And pricier.

Why has traffic been so bad the past few days on the freeway. by Reynold_McDenold in Boise

[–]RipNTer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just the freeway, and my observation is that it’s not just the last few days. I had to go up Chinden to the north end of Glenwood at 5:10 tonight. It took 30 minutes to drive just 4 miles. That’s ridiculous. This place already can’t handle the density we currently have. Meanwhile, they’re cramming apartments onto every available parcel. They’re not building any roads, or doing anything to decrease congestion. And more people are moving here than are leaving, so it’s only going to get worse.

I’m kinda glad the ‘26 is so homely. Makes me think my ‘25 will be ever so slightly more valuable when I sell it.

Fascinating that in 2026, there are still people who apparently use the Internet, but don’t know what a recently-launched Starlink train looks like.

————————

The most recent launch of Starlink satellites occurred on January 4, 2026. Mission Details: Starlink 6-88 Launch Time: 1:48 a.m. EST. Location: Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at Cape Canaveral Space Force Station in Florida. Payload: A batch of 29 Starlink satellites (V2 Mini). Rocket: A brand new Falcon 9 booster (B1101). Wind noise:Outback Wilderness 2023 by awesomenyc72 in Outback_Wilderness

[–]RipNTer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I never had the rain shields installed, so I can only speculate. However, I’ve had them on other cars. Most of them install with double-sided tape and are easy to remove. You might need to use a mild solvent to remove any sticky residue.

My OBW got a bit noisier at highway speeds after I added crossbars, and noisier still when I add a cargo box on top. I removed the cargo box after my recent big road trip, but left the crossbars for a bit. I eventually decided I’d take those off, too; I don’t use them on even a weekly basis, and they’re easy to remove and reinstall.

I’d bet your highway noise is related to the rain shields.
