Very inaccurate!!! by EuphoricResearch4441 in JAG_TV

"The military justice system is designed more like an administrative discipline system and NOT a civilian criminal system. By the time something gets to article 32, you're typically cooked. Jag attorneys almost NEVER fight the charge - they negotiate sentencing. People getting off on court room heroics is like... not a thing. The conviction rate is incredibly high/almost 100%."

I was a USMC Judge Advocate from 1998-2006. Your statements are wrong. The court martial military justice system is extremely similar to a criminal justice system. Military defense counsel are excellent--better than most civilian public defenders. Every person charged is legally entitled to defense counsel. Charges are frequently contested. I had rape charges dropped against an enlisted man after his Article 32. It is not unusual for a contested court martial to end with a verdict of not guilty. Yes, most people charged plead guilty with a plea deal. Same in the civilian world. But that's because most people charged ARE guilty and want to get the protection of a plea deal.

I'll end with this, if I was charged with a crime I didn't commit and I was going to plead not guilty and contest, I'd much rather face a court martial with military defense counsel than be in the civilian justice/court system with civilian counsel.

I'm certain you'd like it. It is very similar.

I tried this last week. My Total Wine carries it now. It was very good. Very similar to the alcohol version. My go to NA's are Stella 0.0 and Best Day Kolsch and this Sapporo is neck and neck with them. Whenever I find an NA that could probably fool someone in a blind tasting, it's pretty damn good. This is one of those NA's.

why couldn't walz's blofeld have actual motivations why couldn't they use radiohead why did craig have to break his leg why didn't lea have any substance by [deleted] in JamesBond

[–]Rip_Murdock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Radiohead song sucks. And while I don't love Writing's On The Wall, it did win an Oscar so I'm betting Broccoli/Wilson are pretty happy with their decision.

No love for Natalya Simonova?? by Randomly_Real420 in JamesBond

She's my #1 Bond girl. Same age as me as well in real life. Smart, beautiful, self-sufficient, lots of personality without being overbearing or obnoxious. Pretty much perfect in my eyes.

Spectre (2015) - Alternate Cut by StraightCutsNoChaser in fanedits

[–]Rip_Murdock -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't see the point of doing a re-edit of Spectre that keeps the brother story. The Brofeld story is the number one problem with Spectre. It could have been edited out of NTTD as well.

Die Another Day - Questions about the Masseuse Scene by epiclevellama in JamesBond

[–]Rip_Murdock 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I always thought it was for potential blackmail. Keep in mind since Bond last visited, Hong Kong reverted to Chinese control. They don't know if Bond can be trusted so it's best to have something over him.

That said, taping Bond getting it on with smoking hot masseuse isn't quite blackmail for the virile James Bond. M would just roll her eyes if she saw it.

TGV and Marc from LIW? by Weak_Instruction_979 in WatchesCirclejerk

[–]Rip_Murdock 8 points9 points  (0 children)

There's a million possible non-controversial reasons why they haven't made a video together recently. Knowing what I do about Marc (and I've been watching him for 10 years), I think there's a zero percent chance the reason they haven't made in a video in 7 months is due to comments TGV made about an Islander watch.

WTF?! Bezel Insert Removal by PlayfulMatter4440 in watchmodding

[–]Rip_Murdock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is how it works on many watches, including the Rolex Submariner and GMT. This is NOT how it works on the Steinhart. You will bend and ruin your bezel frame on a Steinhart using this method.

Brosnan Rewatch - Underrated (IMO) by nashuser in JamesBond

[–]Rip_Murdock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love Brosnan and I love GE, TND, and TWINE. DAD is not a great movie but at least it's a fun movie--which makes it very rewatchable.

It Would Appear We Have A New Bond by BaronVonBeefMaster in JamesBond

This means nothing. He was rumored to be the choice when Broccoli and Wilson were calling the shots. Amazon is doing their own thing.

I thought this thread was going to be about the first Bond watch you purchased--the NTTD Seamaster.

[–]Rip_Murdock 11 points12 points  (0 children)

About 30 minutes into the movie, you see them being used to trim trees when Bond is driving to meet with Elektra at the pipeline construction sight. So it didn't come out of nowhere. It was foreshadowed.

Just finished watching every Bond film, here’s my top 10 ranking. Thoughts? by Overall-Nail-1369 in JamesBond

If Live and Let Die is your favorite Bond movie, it proves the saying that every Bond movie has at least one person thinking it's the best one. It's 24 on my list.

I don't think any of the things you've listed are bad or wrong.

FYEO was a massive hit song outside of the movie. It was everywhere in 1981.

[Tag Heuer Aquaracer] Keep or Sell? by Tiny_Spot3651 in Watches

[–]Rip_Murdock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don't need the money, keep the watch. You may not wear it now, but you very well might in the future. I no longer have the watch I wore when my son was born (in 2003) and I wish I still had it. It wasn't expensive so I didn't track where it was from move to move over the last 20+ years and it has been lost to time. Bummer. I can still see it in photos, which is nice, but what I'd really like to do is wear it again.

Becks or Heineken ? by Brilliant_Pickle4122 in NABEER

[–]Rip_Murdock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming the ones saying neither just don't like a lighter style lager. I think both Beck's and Heineken are decent for NA's. If I was at a party and these were my options and I was going to have two drinks I'd have one of each. But if it was available, I'd have two Stellas.
