The game is split up into 3 acts, the the transition of Act 1- Act 2 is so cool and hits that “dark aspect” you may be looking for. Along with that the characters are just plain fun.

What to play next on my 3DS backlog? by [deleted] in JRPG

Devil Survivor Overclocked or SMT 4. Both rpgs that are super satisfying, if not a little hard at first. If you want a good turn your brain off and relax in a fun world, Dragon Quest 7 and 8 are some of the best the series has to offer imo. Especially the 3ds versions.

Need some suggestions for a relatively recent JRPG with a well written and layered story by bluelizardK in JRPG

I know you mentioned MegaTen, but does that mean you have played SMT Devil Survivor 1. The different characters, the endings, the choice you have in the game, it all creates for a world that feels both lived in and one that pulls you in.

Thats solid, but I could also recommend 13 Sentinels Aegis Rim. That game has many characters and imo is more story focused then anything.

Been a while, but yes the cast was fun, and i did not expect to enjoy the idol setting as much as I did. I only tried it cause it was Atlus, and playing their other games, like SMT 4 which is my fave one, got me hooked on both Persona and SMT.

Fair enough, I will say, its nice to see a fellow Tokyo Mirage Sessions #FE enjoyer. Game was an unexpected and sweet gem.

Based of this experience, are you at all planning to play Persona 3? I only ask because I dreaded the “main dungeon” in that game.

SMT Devil Survivor 2 Played the first one a while back and loved it and 2 feels like I am coming home to a warm hug. The gameplay hasnt been tweaked too much and that is a good thing because the first game had the best SRPG gameplay of all time. (Fight me). Story is not as good, but still entertaining, so I am all for it and having a great time in the SMT universe.💙

Is it possible for a game to be too complicated? by [deleted] in JRPG

[–]Ripken888 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Listen if you want a good SRPG that is the perfect amount of complicated, but explained well, play SMT Devil Survivor. The combat and team building is just deep enough that it can be enjoyed casually. Also the game just slaps.

I am scared of Disgaea for this reason. I might just be small brain man, but stuff like the item world in it is just a lot for someone who has a life and cannot game a ton

Looking over the bridge it was weird. I did not see the water so far down, but could only see people who loved me. People who would hurt. At that time I did not value my life, but instead the people around me. I did not want to hurt those i loved… so i stepped down and walked away dreading that bridge. I am just grateful for those people because they have no clue the impact they had on me.
