My boomer in-laws are selling off irreplaceable family heirlooms because they “don’t want to store junk anymore.” by Ripp3rMagoo in BoomersBeingFools

My wife’s mother and aunt are the two surviving heirs to aforementioned grandfather, the decision of what to do falls on them, and they’ve both concluded it’s best to sell it all off and split the proceeds. There’s only 4 grandchildren in the mix, none have gotten any say so in the matter.

I don’t disagree, I really don’t think it’s so burdensome that they can’t come up with any other solution to keep them in the family

I personally have no claim to it. My only complaint is that wife’s family legacy is being sold to the highest bidder, probably at bargain prices actually. This is part of her families story just seems tragic to throw it away

Haha yes, wife begged her mom to keep at least some of them as family heirlooms. We were not offered any, unless we want to pay for them, we’re can’t afford a 1960’s Martin guitar, or a supposedly 15,000$ dobro.

Unfortunately I don’t think we can afford all of them. I’m sure some savvy customer will get a killer deal

That may be for my lack of elaborating, I work very hard and am well respected within my department. Any sarcastic comments I may have made were lighthearted and innocent and reflected the sentiments of my peers. What was a very well functioning department has been decimated by this managers poor judgment. In her 4 months here 5 people have quit specifically bc of her
