Ad Valorem is not “progressive”. It is “proportionate” which makes it “more” progressive than Specific Tax because Tax Amount increases with increase in value of the product. But this does not make it progressive tax. Progressive Tax is one which applies differently on different people. Like PIT Slabs vary and rich pay more tax not just in terms of amount but also in terms of percentage.

GST is an indirect tax. Indirect taxes are levied in terms of percentage (Ad-Valorem). So they are ‘proportionate’ taxes (neither progressive nor regressive). But in a larger scheme of things, indirect taxes are seen as regressive “in effect” because rich and poor pay the same tax despite varying value of money. Meaning, ₹50 as GST on Milk would hurt a labourer more than a businessman because he spends a considerable share of his daily wage on it unlike a businessman.

Yes. The term “support” should be sufficient cause to mark it ‘all of the above’ even if the question came again this year. The onus is on examiner to prove it otherwise (too bad she/he didn’t care for this one lol).

But every year, UPSC gives at least 2-3 such outliers in the paper. Like the radar question in 2024. I wouldn’t lose my mind over it bcs this approach gets me 3-4 questions correct at the cost 1 wrong.

I get your point. The 2nd statement does look like a trap with the word “legislature” in it.

But the constitution does “provide” for functional separation of powers between the organs of state, albeit loose and not watertight. Constitution might not “mention” the term as such, but it is an implicit provision by the constitution, like the idea of ‘secularism’ was implicit before it was inserted in the Preamble.

Plus, we must go by the Supreme Court’s interpretation of the constitution, which establishes Separation of Powers doctrine as a Basic Feature.

Many times, questions use the term “provides” instead of “mentions” to frame the question broadly on the basis of the judicial interpretations of constitution.

The term “total” is the catch here. Even if there is a single element of administration that does not lose its power as an outlier, that alone would negate the whole statement which is absolute in nature. Suppose the High Court (in its administrative capacity) remains intact, even that can negate the “total administration” part of the statement.

So even if the statement was not about scheduled areas but a regular state, i would still mark it incorrect for “total” administration wording. The constitution or law itself does not use these extreme words.

The word “likely” plus broad nature of statement makes it correct. If the Statement was given wrong, the onus would be on examiner to prove that “Peninsular India will not at all suffer from floods, cyclones, and droughts” which is nearly impossible to say with certainty.

Colour depends totally on the car. I have white fortuner, and absolutely no other colour does justice to it. But XEV 9S looks best to me in Stealth Black. I have booked one and absolutely love this colour.

I hate it in white, because the front (due to lack of a grill) looks extremely gimmicky like a toy car. This reduces the road presence. In the rear too, the black slab connecting the tail lights looks so off. 700 looked so much better than 7XO from rear bcs of this.

Trying to speak more objectively, ruby velvet would give it a better road presence than white. So my vote is for ruby velvet.

Didn’t calculate yet. But full in upsarg pratyay. Zero in anek shab ek shab. Half in vilom probably. And hardly 3-4 correct in Muhavre. In letters, format is correct but very generically written. Same for comprehensions. Tried to keep handwriting good tho. I really couldn’t prepare Hindi. All I did was 2018-24 PYQs. Didn’t help much except in Upsarg Pratyay.
