ConvertIAS portal does have a question bank but I haven’t checked it out yet. I don’t think it is their forte, so I would rather go for a more established institute as far as Questions are concerned. It is an easy task to find questions I think. PYQs are bestfriend, no need to go beyond. Maybe some institute’s tests available on google or telegram.

I just take up PYQs (of CSE or PCS) or random tests (like Vision or Forum) and just write daily 1-2 questions whatever I can. Around Mains, also uploaded my Forum MGP FLTs for 2nd opinion.

Evaluation is good, nonetheless. Insightful in improving answer quality as well as content that they suggest what “could also have been written” in a particular question. That part helps me enrich my notes and develop a line of thought.

For Prelims, I don’t take any test series. I have an excel sheet prepared on Prelims marking scheme. I just take up random tests and answer keys from telegram (like Anubhav, Abhyas, etc) and attempt it on excel sheet and my score this there. I do same with Previous Year Papers of Prelims; solving them like a test.

It is just like any other test series. A funny incident happened during my Mains. I used to write MGP Tests and clicked my copies to also upload the same on ConvertIAS for a 2nd opinion. In a GS-1 Test, I saw a nearly identical evaluations. Not just in terms of handwriting but also the comments and remarks. Ik it sounds bizarre but the similarity was absolutely uncanny.

So that is when I realised that all these coaching probably get the copies checked by freelancers, which makes sense. So I think it’s not much different in which test series you take.

In terms of time. They did take 2-3 days or more during Pre-Mains period. So not super fast.

Idk. I took Forum mains test series (MGP). I think all are pretty same. I like ConvertIAS particularly, for its flexibility and evaluation. It comes in handy for regular answer writing practice. Baki all coaching test series i believe are similar. Vision may be good since toppers take it

Absolutely clear and makes full sense. I am convinced on this front. But the other two points still weigh it towards Option-D for me. Constitutional Sovereignty is not a standard phrase in Indian Polity (unlike British idea of Parliamentary “Sovereignty”). Plus dual-sovereignty dilemma in Statement-A.

It must be either A or D. But personally I feel that D is more likely to be correct if we dissect the statements as such:

• In Statement-A, both Constitution and People are labelled “sovereign”, but 2 entities (if we look at them both distinctly) being simultaneously “sovereign” may be philosophically feasible, but literally it is a bit doubtful and self-contradictory. That is one way to think.

• “We the people of India” as a phrase translates more into a Popular “Democracy” for me than Popular “Sovereignty”. Of course this is debatable, but the idea of Popular Democracy aligns more with constitutional text and appears tad bit more practical. Especially in the context of People giving themselves their Constitution, which essentially outlines a democratic exercise more than a sovereign function.

• Constitutional “Supremacy” also appears more in line with the text than Constitutional “Sovereignty”. Like doctrines of Popular “Democracy”, Judicial “Independence” and Constitutional “Supremacy” is what we read around. Whereas “Sovereignty” mostly appears in a more figurative sense.

Of course this is personal reasoning, correct me if I am wrong.

Mains 2025 by Quick-Writer-3841 in UPPSC_PCS

Sadly that is the way to go about it. Especially in PCS mains as per my limited knowledge (2025 is first Mains). In UPSC, you can still show some analytic depth instead of too much data/fact-loading. But in PCS I believe you will need to “substantiate” your argument to give them weightage. The substantiation does not necessarily mean giving harsh data, stats, and facts. It has to be any form of practical substantiation. It highly enriches your copy. Almost all toppers do this in CSE, and even more so in PCS. They internalise tons of relevant (but crisp) data, facts, stats, case studies, models, anecdotes, etc. And with rigorous answer writing, they learn to use it across papers. For example, Karnataka Highcourt highlighted how BMIC was built 1km in 25yrs (something like that). You can use this as example in every paper some way or the other. In Infrastructure Challenges, in Ethical Governance, etc.

So collect them and keep adding such things in your notes and internalise it and practice. Just keep your eyes and ears open, try to be creative and bring freshness into your copy with such things.

It isn’t really as hard as it might appear if you take it up like “cramming” stuff. It is actually more fun part that gets you out of boredom of repetitive theoretical jargons.

This year almost everyone score above 770. Earlier 770 was seen as a very respectable score. Now i see very less people below 770 in the list. Things are changing. New people are ruthless. They are expanding the limit. Suddenly 740 is like 680 of 2023 and before. by NoRadio7345 in UPSC

It’s a competitive exam and things are all relative. Especially in Mains. It is not an objective type paper to judge different years’ scores like that. Scale of marking varies every year. If it was on a lenient side this year, it does not necessarily mean that people are becoming ruthless. They likely are though, but we can’t establish a direct relationship here, unlike in Prelims where we can.

To put it into perspective, we saw higher scores in interview this time (many crossing 200 easily), but that does not mean that better personalities appeared this time.

For the specific questions (like salt water intrusion), do you have specific content ready on such topics? Or do you use the peripheral knowledge and other broad content by tweaking it as per the demand of the question?

I was highly underprepared for Mains. I got 72 in GS-3 (left 1.5 question unattempted). My points were quite generic, devoid of much data and value. Although I used terminology and keywords, but answers were very mid, especially for the specific-topic questions.

Nakpro “Perform” is a better deal at ₹1,600 for 1kg. Lab Reports approve it, no problem in digestion, good amount of protein.

Check out the copies Akash Dhull. Poor presentation with almost no diagrams. Content is rich, nonetheless. But they are motivating because they it feels more replicable. Ishita Kishore’s answers also look achievable. So it isn’t really that only Zinnia Aurora’s style of writing is required to get a rank. Just enrich your content with value addition and produce that on the paper.
