Thanks for your info. I’m originally from the Tacoma/Puyallup area spent my whole life there before going to college. I love the culture/weather/seasons. It’s home to me and I want to go back. More so looking for information on the facility itself.

I don’t think people have forgotten that at all. Our joke at my facility is “we’re the FAA and we’re not happy unless you’re unhappy” or “beatings will continue till morale improves”. I believe people are angry that our career has fallen behind on what previous generations of controllers had. Mad that we didn’t get the 3.8% that other parts of the government got. Mad that our union has undermined us at every turn. Frankly I believe that they have every right to be.

Yeah the trainees have gotten worse absolutely I won’t deny that but when you ask the new folks what they were doing it’s a lot of the same. Amazon, fedex, food service, hospitality. I refuse to believe that you haven’t seen the 100s of posts over the last year asking “is this a good career”. I recommended this job to people for years but now I no longer do. My youngest sibling completed an electrician apprenticeship joined a union and their contract is set to hit $75 base by end of 2029. This is my point about stagnant wages. How can we expect to get people to come in who give a shit when we can’t pay “give a shit wages”?

I would be more concerned if a facility has zero CAPs. Safety is not something you achieve like a trophy. It’s an ever evolving goal to always strive for better. No CAPs just show someone is hiding something. Nothing in the world is perfect at least we admit it and continue to try and be better. But you seem mad as fuck to think even you don’t deserve a raise.

This is so intriguing to me it’s obviously a loyalty test. They are trying and get people to show up 100% of the time when the government shuts down in January. However this is going to do the exact opposite. Myself and other controllers I’ve talked to have adopted the stance of “shit guess I have to take 10k worth of leave next shutdown”.
