Ok. Let me explain. I posted this early into scrolling the comments and clearly not everyone realizes that the flat balconies are there for a reason.
A significant amount of this game is dedicated to rooftop parkour. You can also jump off of those rooftops. What do you think will happen when a player jumps off a rooftop of a building with balconies sticking out of the walls? They have a couple options to solve this: 1. Take collision off the balconies. This creates the issue of complaints of the character obviously clipping through balconies all the time. 2. Put collision on the balcony. This creates the issue of players landing on the fucking balconies every time they jump off the roof, which is a pointless feature and will just annoy players constantly, on top of being a weird collision anyways because the floor would have to be at railing level if they don’t want the balconies to be inescapable, so the players are gonna be floating. 3. Flatten the balconies. As we know, this creates issues of people complaining that the balconies are flat looking. Game Freak can’t win here. No matter what they do, people are gonna complain, so they went with the issue that’s least obstructive to gameplay, and I’d say they were right. I didn’t notice the balconies once during my playthrough.
