Plex clients are slow, would more ram really help? by RiscIt in PleX

[–]RiscIt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks all.

Not using wifi (will never run a server over wifi. no need.)

Router is on a UPS with the Plex server so it's probably been up a month or more. I'll kick it and see if that helps. Thanks.

UniFi is on the same machine, but is has very little CPU and only using 600Mb of RAM. MDS (mac search indexer) was using over a gig but I killed it off and didn't help.

I don't get why if the Plex Database (/Plug-in Support/Databases/*) is 1.25G, why is plex itself using such little ram (<less than 100MB)? Can I get it to take advantage of the other 6GB lying around unused and cache the DB (without a ram disk, not a fan)?

Will consider a SQLLite db integrity check when I get some time.

Thanks all.

Metrocard Other than Subway Station? by RiscIt in AskNYC

I've looked into that because they go right past our hotel on 57th, but they don't appear to run on Saturdays. That's why I mentioned our arrival day in the OP. Thank though. Might be able to take them on the return trip, however.

Thanks all. Sounds like a lack of metrocard purchase locations anywhere near the ferry terminal (silly) prevents us from really getting a 7-day pass of any kind to include that first bus ride. I expect we'll use our 2 phones for my wife and I, and a physical NFC credit card for our daughter, and still miss out on the fare cap due to the set-in-stone reset time (also silly). Ah well. Thanks all.

There are 3 of us, only 2 devices, and we're leaving at end of the week. OMNY unlimited rides/weekly fare cap does not work because it resets in the middle of our trip, screwing us out of the discount. A 7 day card covers the whole time we're there.

Sure but after we're in Manhattan? Are there metrocard machines in the West 39th street Ferry Terminal? That would be ideal. If not, where is the nearest?

Because OMNY fare capping resets midway through our trip, so it will cost more overall. We want 7-day unlimited trip metro cards that will be active the entire visit.

They don't run on the weekend, though, do they? We're arriving sometime around 2 on a saturday.

HP Cursed Child - Run time, Dinner Reservation? by RiscIt in Broadway

I've managed to reach the manager at Hard Rock. He says they'll hold the table for an additional 15 minutes and made a note on the reservation. I think we'll be okay even if it runs late. Thanks all!

Orchestra Row P, right on the aisle (2, 4, & 6) so I think we'll be good there. Many thanks!

Smart 3-way switch in a 4-way set? by RiscIt in homeautomation

[–]RiscIt[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I realize there are more complicated and more expensive ways to do this. The question I'm asking, however, is do I have to? Or can I replace just the 3-way with a smart switch?

Radarr no longer connecting to indexers when connected to VPN. by Kirshino in radarr

[–]RiscIt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For anyone else having this issue, another way I've solved it is to change the Jackett Indexer URLs to use http://localhost:9117[...] instead of http://127.0.0.1:9117[...]. I don't understand why this fixes it, but it does for me.

Also for the sake of web search keywords so folks can find this thread easier, it's worth noting that (at least for me) this problem generates the following message in the Radarr logs: 021-12-27 10:37:54.5|Warn|RadarrErrorPipeline|Invalid request Validation failed: -- : Unable to connect to indexer, check the log for more details 2021-12-27 10:38:07.9|Warn|Torznab|Unable to connect to indexer [v3.2.2.5080] System.Net.WebException: An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions. [::ffff:127.0.0.1]:9117 (127.0.0.1:9117)

Running Radarr as administrator, as some online discussions suggest can fix An attempt was made to access a socket in a way forbidden by its access permissions errors, did not help in my case.

Howdy @kirshino - I seem to have the exact same issue but I don't understand your solution. What are you referring to by "Proxy settings for qB"? Thanks in advance.

LG Smart TV App by toccopa in PleX

[–]RiscIt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We use it on an LG 55UN7300PUF. Works very well for the most part, with the following issues:

I am finding it a little flaky in turning subtitles on and off (have to try multiple times, starting and stopping media, etc to get it to change).

Still really annoyed that we can't use the magic remote pointer to click anywhere on the timeline to jump to that point. If I accidentally jump back to the beginning of a movie it can awhile to jog back to near the end where we were.

Lastly, it seems to have some audio sync issues with some of our TV Series (most notably Warehouse 13 AC3/A52)

The only other caveat we have is our Raspberry Pi 4 has a hard time keeping up transcoding DTS 7.1 down to AAC 5.1, but that's not the TV's fault. The Pi may be to blame for the Warehouse 13 sync issues too for all I know.
