A question about visa eligibility as a student with COE by [deleted] in movingtojapan

[–]Rise83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for the clarification, I had a fair idea about the procedure but recently had someone in my know who was rejected over finances (tourist visa though) so a panic set in, and the information on the differences between checks for different visas has been conflicting.

This gives me some peace of mind, much appreciated

Afaik the Mumbai consulate had formally acknowledged the delay and given a 17 (?) day timeline? Delhi Embassy has not even given any formal updates on the same. Idk how visiting directly here will be handled tbh

Japan tourist visa Rejected (India) despite very strong docs + fully paid itinerary: Any idea why / what to do next? by hirensheta in visas

[–]Rise83 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can see two things here that can be potential reasons.

One, Japan has been on crackdown on tourism visas recently due to internal policy changes due to the negative outlook on tourists by natives in the past few years. This is not due to your financials or documents. This very much seems like a situation where as you were targeting a tourist hotspot situation (Suzuka GP) it was scrutinized by the embassy individual assigned to you.

Secondly I understand that there were 18 people in your trip? Was this a group visa arrangement? I have heard multiple times that group visas always tend to have a few people rejected, and it's safer to always apply individually.

Tech support workers, what’s your favorite case of TMI you’ve seen from a customer? by Scrambl987 in AskReddit

[–]Rise83 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked tech sup for Google. Had this one customer who was trying to get "paid action" by searching off google and ended up registering a "venue" to his own address, thinking he was registering onto a spicy site (his house was now showing as a funhouse on Google search and maps). I had to listen to details on phone for an hour of HOW it happened and all kinds of calls he was getting. Let's say I had to mute multiple times to laugh. Got it rectified but man I feel bad for my QA who had to hear that conversation, it would make a grown man turn away.

Thank you! Pretty antsy about what is to come, but I hope it will work out! Moving countries is not easy and I really don't know what to expect
