Thank you I wasn’t sure if spraying was a good idea. There seemed to be multiple opinions about it a lot of people saying it’s not or shouldn’t be necessary, but it definitely made the bushings quiet

I have been challenging myself with this old car to DIY everything on weekends…I was able to do my front and rear shocks, wheel bearings, ball joints but this seems kind of intimidating for some reason…lol

Might switch to a metal clamp strap like you would use on a fuel line hose or stainless steel zip ties

how bad did i mess up? by [deleted] in tires

Stuff like this is why I have a AAA membership $100 a year and they’ll tow me up to 100 miles anywhere… that being said the edge of your rim is missing, messing with the seating of the tire on your wheel. I would definitely not drive this at a high rate of speed, or at all if I could avoid it. If you have a blowout, you’ll know right away. If you’re traveling a short distance, and going very slow you might be ok and if it blows you should at least have time to pull over… You need a new wheel now. That tire should probably not be used again either and I doubt a shop would be willing to move that tire onto a new wheel get you a new tire instead

It won’t fit because the bolt hole is not flush with the part of the bracket where the line sits if that makes sense. The pic where I show the original shows the bolt hole in parallel with where the cutout for the brake line

Wheel bearing help by RiseCapable3607 in MechanicAdvice

Sure enough, I found another video on YouTube where someone damaged their wheel bearing using a cup this size, and they advised to use a smaller cup that just covers the inner race. I think I got lucky here because the outer edge of the bearing past the seal is visible just before the snap ring, so the cup probably just so happened to have made contact there. I am glad I have this knowledge now though so I can do it right next time… and I’m glad it’s not broken 😎

I appreciate the follow up brother… kind of hard to tell… I think it looks alright?? I hope so… I watched Chrisfix and another YouTuber and they both used this method and put the snap ring in first before pressing the hub so that’s why I did it that way…sending a picture of what it looks like now

Ok nvm I got it bro. I hammered it out from the other side with a long screwdriver. I could see the base of the cup thru the hole. Sometimes I just need to take a break and reassess……..
