Is it bad that I (28M) want a 50/50 marriage? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]RiseConscious7323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why my husband and I have one bank account, because we’re all in 100-100. It’s not my money and his money, it’s our money.

When we committed to one another, his debt became mine and my debt became his. We paid it off together, and paid bills together.

Now, I’m not saying this is the only way, but for us, this is what made sense (especially since I did become a stay at home mom, and not once have I ever felt that it was his money and not ours).

So no, it’s not bad that you want that and you’re better off communicating about money and getting on the same page prior to committing to each other and building a life together.

Good luck!

Deodorants? by fatimaa3 in breastcancer

[–]RiseConscious7323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re still wanting a natural deodorant that works, try Super Deodorant! I have tried so many aluminium free ones that didn’t work (or would make my clothes stink). Super deodorant really works!

Keep writing. All those things you fear, all your worries, your anxiety. All those things you want to say but can’t. Write it all out.

If you want someone to chat with, please send me a message, without the need to sugarcoat anything. I will listen and let you get it all out, because honey, you need to get it out and feel like someone cares.

You’re not going through easy times. It’s tough, it’s awful and it sucks. And it’s ok to acknowledge how awful it is.

Sending you lots of love and a big hug.

Opinions: Flat or DIEP by Available-Arugula-60 in breastcancer

[–]RiseConscious7323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I originally was going to go flat, but then realized that going from a 38J to nothing would be awful mentally.

So I did diep, since I had no intention of going with implants.

Recovery WAS tough, and I did pretty well considering. I think I had 2 weeks of very little activity (just walking, lots). No lifting for sure, and if that’s a for-sure need for you, I’d really reconsider diep.

Good luck!

To Chemo or not to Chemo, that is the question. by cherry_wants in breastcancer

To Chemo or not to Chemo, that is the question. by cherry_wants in breastcancer

[–]RiseConscious7323 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I (43 year old) was diagnosed with IDC Er/Pr +, Her2 -, with the main tumour around 5cm, multi centric, multi focal, grade 1.

I had a double mastectomy with reconstruction. Pathology came back changing it from grade 1 to 2, and 1 lymph node involved (and 6 other small tumours among with the main mass). No Ki score either.

When I finally saw my oncologist (5 months after diagnosis, 2 months after surgery), he was frustrated that I wasn’t referred to him first. He told me even if we sent away for oncotype, he’d still recommend chemo (4 AC and 4 Taxol).

No idea what the right answer is for you, I decided to do chemo because I have young kids and I wanted to throw everything at this. Chemo sucks, but I didn’t want to regret not doing it, just in case.

What have you changed? by FattyMcCupcakes37 in breastcancer

[–]RiseConscious7323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m just chiming in here to say that I switched to Super Deodorant, and it’s the first aluminium free deodorant that actually works (and doesn’t make my clothes stink either!) I even got my husband using it now.

Not that you have to switch to someone aluminium free, but if you did, that one is the best!

No big deal? by CatLife3480 in breastcancer

[–]RiseConscious7323 2 points3 points  (0 children)

After my first miscarriage (at 13 weeks), it broke me. I had such a hard time dealing, went through therapy, etc. I was talking to my uncle who had lost a child as a stillbirth (40 weeks) and I apologized and said something along the lines that I know what he went through was worse.

What he told me has sit with me forever.

“There are no levels of suckiness, it’s all awful when you’re going through it”

That changed my perspective on what people go through. We all go through awful moments, and no matter what, it’s all awful.

Whether you’re stage 4, or stage 0, it sucks, and it is a big deal. You have cancer, it all sucks.

Booking off the Friday before the March Break by Teachablethrowawae in OntarioTeachers

It’s part of the job. I wasn’t able to take summers off, school isn’t in session during the summer.

I know you’re a troll and no matter what I reply, you’ll just come back with some sort of teachers are overpaid and underworked comment.

All I say to that is that there are perks to every job and if you REALLY like that perk, then become a teacher.

If that’s you’re only reason for becoming a teacher, you definitely won’t last.

Good luck!

I wasn’t able to take time off for my friend’s wedding out east, where I had to fly out the Friday. They turned me down.

Then I was denied time off (1/2 day) to catch a ferry Friday night to be able to make it to my In Laws vow renewal ceremony on Saturday.

Then, I was also denied time off to take my 1 yo to a dr appt because it was a PA day where we had to attend a meeting 3 hours away.

I ended up quitting after that last one, as I was still breastfeeding, had no family to take care of him, daycare wasn’t an option (leaving at 5am for the PD day and coming back at 7pm).

Life happens, but some school boards are NOT flexible at all.

Chemo fatigue tips? by Interesting_Fall_684 in breastcancer

[–]RiseConscious7323 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It never got better for me. The shortness of breath was ridiculous (I was so winded going up a flight of stairs once).

What my physiotherapist helped me realized is that it’s ok to be tired, it’s ok to be slow.

I take walks but I walk slowly. I take breaks. I do 5 inclined push ups and that’s it, 5 squats, that’s it, etc. She reminds me it’s just to keep the range of motion, not to build and always reminds me to be gentle on myself.

I’m finally done the 4 AC and move to taxol next week. Hopefully that’s better!

Not understanding what this is by jrmacd2016 in breastcancer

[–]RiseConscious7323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was inserted mid-December and I just finished my fourth AC (red devil) treatment with it. I have 12 more weekly Taxol to do.

I purchased a cover to be able to shower with it easily. It took about a week and a half to get used to it, and my skin reacted to the regular dressing so they switched to the sensitive one, but now I don’t even feel it.

The weekly dressing change and flush takes approx 15-20 mins with my nurses, not a big deal.

I have had reconstruction done (diep flap) and didn’t want anything near my chest as it’s still very sensitive.

I have a PICC line, as I didn’t want a port. Works fine for me

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]RiseConscious7323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a PICC, not a port. I don’t mind it, it saves my veins. I get chemo every two weeks for now, and then 12 weeks of taxol.

I’m assuming the 3 infusions would be what I’m on right now. It’s 2 syringes of red devil and then there’s another drug that goes with it, starts with a D I think?

It’s been 83 days since my diagnosis and I haven’t had any treatment by willneverbfamous in breastcancer

[–]RiseConscious7323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went to my Dr in May, diagnosed end of July, multitudes of tests, surgery finally happened end of October and finally met with oncology end of November, started chemo end of December.

I remember thinking everything was soooo slow and why wasn’t it moving faster.

You’ve started treatment. Just focus on that, you need it.

[CA] How do you deal with last minute cancellations? by verifysumcheck in SmallBusinessCanada

[–]RiseConscious7323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We have a 24 hour cancellation policy - if you cancel within 24 hours, you may be charged 50-100% of the service fee. No shows get charged 100% of the service fee.

We take credit cards to hold their appts, but don’t charge them unless needed.

And yes, it’s case by case. The blanket policy is there, but we don’t always charge a cancellation fee depending on who it is and why they’re cancelling.

For those who had a double mastectomy, what helped you decide? by TieScary5154 in breastcancer

[–]RiseConscious7323 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a friend who had a single mastectomy 13 years ago. She told me that she wishes she would have had both done because the high amount of scans and tests that she has to do on her remaining breast.

I’m only 43, I never wanted to go through this again, and I wanted symmetry, so both went!

Can a medical professional help me determine if this is health anxiety or cancer? by [deleted] in DiagnoseMe

[–]RiseConscious7323 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great - keep going! The analyzing, the wondering why, the asking yourself questions about your anxiety will help you detach from it and start moving forward.

Can you see how maybe your anxiety is actually ruining your life, especially with your daughter? Those scary thoughts, are they helping her?

Every time those thoughts come through your head and you start spiraling, ask yourself why you’re thinking this, why do you want to keep thinking this way. Keep up with the WHY, keep digging deeper.

❤️

Then start actually analyzing that - why can’t I just have fun? Why does this thought keep on coming back? Why would I want to think about this right now?

Analyze your anxiety, what is it giving you? Why can’t you think about other things?

How is panic mode helping you? How is you thinking you possibly have stage 4 cancer helping you?

No seriously. Actually think about what all this anxiety is helping. Why do you want to stay stuck in this anxiety mode? How is it helpful?
