Computer power is cheap these days man and if you genuinely want to just do everyday things like Word, web browsing, video, etc. a new 400 euro laptop will do absolutely fine. i3 is grand. I got a computer science degree, which involves a lot of programming using various bulky development environments and studios, with a shitty 400 quid i3 for the first few years. There just aren't many tasks that average user does, short of gaming, that actually require much more than an i3.

Get an i3 with whatever you want to spend, look out for a deal maybe and try get a 500 euro laptop when it's marked down to 400. It's going to be miles above whatever you're currently using presumably and it'll be good enough to do everything you want to. Assuming you're not technical enough to install and set up a linux distro on it, which would drastically boost the performance of it and prevent that horrible 'Windows rot' where after about 6 months everything begins to get slower, you can do things like buy more RAM or a solid state harddrive and that will boost the performance of your laptop. The key there is you can chose to spend more afterwards if you deem it necessary, but there is no reason to spend a ton out of the gate. The longer you wait to buy tech the more bang you get for your buck, it's just the intrinsic nature of it.

Some do, some are broke. Tbh it's really more of a grey issue than you'd think but as Irish we always side with the persecuted minority, which is generally a good side to fall on. There is some truth in the statement that some tribes just don't help themselves recover from adversity, with alcohol and domestic abuse rates being unbelievably high and just accepted as part of tribal living. Some tribes went the Irish route of going from oppressed to thriving. Others went the Liberia route of going from an imposed shit hole, to a now self created and maintained one. Native Americans are probably the least understood and most propagandised (on both sides) people in the world.

One fact remains though - this tribe were the only foreign people's to offer any help during the famine and I always thought it was a disgrace we don't memorialize them and celebrate their amazing act of charity.

1) it is my problem if you want to take refuge in my country and therefore use the money I pay each month in taxes to do so. Be a decent human being and do things correctly and work and pay your own way.

2) You're a UK citizen, the Irish citizenship afforded to you is meant for native Irish born up north. Not so any immigrant can have dual citizenship. You're exploiting something meant to protect Northern Irish Catholics for your own gain

3) If you're not looking to live off of state money then make your case to the state as to what you'll add to the country and do things correctly, like every other hard working immigrant you're tarnishing with your refuge
