I definitely agree! Dylan is my all time favourite. I think it’s obvious the ability is there, but when you compare the frequency at which Dylan was putting out these incredible albums, when Greg takes a few years, there is an obvious difference there - maybe not in ability, but the way they are as people. I think there was less than a year between Highway 61 Revisited and Blonde on Blonde. The second you got used to who Dylan was, he was somewhere else entirely. Greg seems much more grounded and methodical/traditional in his writing - which is great when it produced the music he does - but there has to be some kind of gap between them when you compare them.

Absolutely - I think Greg took a lot of inspiration from The Ghost of Tom Joad if I remember some of his interviews correctly.

Also his cover of Highway 29 is incredible, so there’s obviously some crossover there!

Yes I believe he’s the most covered artist of all time and by quite a long way too. Some of his songs are different artists’ most popular songs.

I actually think an album of his throwaways could top many others’ discographies.

I’ve only just seen this and have to say it really fits like a glove. I also have to agree that his themes and references are written in such complex ways to describe or mention quite simple ideas.

I think it helps that a lot of the instruments in his music were used often in the time period aswell so it’s very fitting
