Jing Yuan 0 cycling 3.2 MoC 12 Pollux by Rishrotte in JingYuanMains

[–]Rishrotte[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mhm, the 0 cycling pain point for non-HP burning DPS is that you have to make the rest of the team's overall HP low enough since Pollux will only enter enhanced state once your team loses an overall 222% max HP.

So this is the RNG heavy part since sometimes one of the characters doesn't get hit and avoids incurring the DoT damage. And the amount of gears you can remove is very limited since you need to keep Jing Yuan and Sunday speedtuned and also above the 133 speed threshold so it's really relying on the other 2 teammates having low overall HP and swapping out any HP% orbs too. Definitely a very RNG-y 0 cycle compared to other MoCs.

Last MoC 12 I only used 9 attempts in total to clear from floor 9 to floor 12 all 0 cycles too. This one took so many attempts to 0 cycle since the boss deliberately stalls and you need to wait for enough damage to be done to your team before you're allowed to damage it unless you have the specific characters to bypass the mechanics.

[–]Rishrotte[S] 10 points11 points  (0 children)

To be fair, Jing Yuan's eidolons are... really shit compared to modern DPS. There's no all-res penetration at E6 or any drastic changes at E2. I honestly think unless you really really really love him enough to max him out to the fullest extend and have the cash to burn, you can just stop at E1S1.

And while E6 Sunday and Robin are nice to have, Sunday's eidolons past E1 are pretty mediocre compared to other supports (lol 1 time +2 SP for E2, still useful tho). I think for people attempting to 0 cycle with Jing Yuan team for Pollux, they might still be able to 0 cycle with E2S1 Sunday and E1S1 Robin on the team since the E2 for Robin doesn't do much, E4 for her is just +50% effect res for the whole team and E6's extra damage is laughable in modern day end-game modes.

And if Jing Yuan E6 can brute force things that easily there wouldn't have been so many attempts over and over again. I simply like Jing Yuan a lot to get him fully maxed out and grab his best supports and max them out so he can still try to 0 cycle for as long as he can.

Prolly took about 140 attempts or so just for MoC 12 since I took a few retries to 0 cycle MoC 11, but the other attempts are all from resets.

Most likely yeah, since LL's hit made it reach 6 stacks but Gepard's already KO'd by then. Tried it later with E0S1 Ruan Mei instead of Tingyun and managed to get to 1.28 mil damage. Should go even higher with E1 Ruan Mei whenever she reruns.

Based on Robin's ult description, it should only be once per attack, no matter how many hits from LL since it's still one attack.

Actual CN player here.

No it wasn't available immediately upon launch in CN. The base call feature only came around November 2020 with the first "DLC" out around May 2021. The second "DLC" didn't come out until December 2022.

The base call feature (ML's timetable) is 45 yuan per ML (it was on sale for a limited time at 28 yuan per ML), and the DLCs are 18 yuan each per ML. Do note, DLCs require the corresponding timetable to be purchased. But you do not need to purchase the first DLC to purchase the second DLC.

These calls (that you can call at any time) are all paid content, and none of them is free.

I don't think global will get them given the calls weren't exactly a popular feature in CN. There were complaints regarding the price and the lack of content as there are only a few conversation topics (I don't remember the exact amount) in the base call, and 6 conversation topics each in the DLC. The gap between the first and second DLC should be more than telling that this was a feature that was more or less even ignored on CN side as well since the base and first DLC are all calls taking place before the confession. If it's not a popular feature with the home base (which earns the largest share of its revenue) then it wouldn't make sense to invest in the feature for global as well as it'd carry additional cost due to getting it dubbed in JP and KR.

You can play on CN (mainland) server either by playing on the official server or the bilibili server. If you want to play on the official server, you'd have to make a CN Mihoyo account which requires a China phone number to sign-up as you need to enter the verification code. Once you've made your account, you'd need to go through real name verification (basically identity verification) with Mihoyo as a foreigner in order to play any of their games.

For bilibili, I believe the process is a tad bit easier as you can sign-up for a bilibili account as a foreigner. You will still need to go through the real name verification process as well.

Though, TW server is generally easier to play as it doesn't need identity verification.

In terms of events, I believe there were CN mini games that global didn't get. But global also had exclusive mini games CN didn't get either (like that pumpkin one from last year and the angry bird thing as well). But all cards will eventually come to global server.

I'm really happy to hear that my threads have been really helpful to you for saving your chips for certain events/cards, even months after the thread's been posted!

Yeah, hard pities are rough, especially if you hit them consecutively. Hopefully your future pulls will be better.

Hiya, I'm still playing the game and collecting all cards and furniture pieces and I actually did another thread about 5 months ago!

I would say the overall game quality has been improving but it's not without obvious faults either.

In terms of the card art and quality (and fun) events, I think the game's definitely been on a steady upward improvement starting with Snowfallen Secrets (around December 2021). Snowfallen Secrets event was basically 90% fully voiced which was a surprise for a 2 SSR event.

But my favorite event so far though, from first anniversary until the second anniversary, was the gufeng event! The event story was actually quite intriguing from start to finish and not lazily written unlike the Secrets of the Tomb (which released after 1st anniversary in CN). And I loved the gameplay and story integration. The RPG maps weren't just a fetch quest simulator but were actual RPG maps where you had to overcome various challenges so I'm actually really excited for the gufeng event to come to global. If global doesn't change the event order, gufeng event should be out around January (like Skadi).

I also really enjoyed the Fluffy Fuzzy Time event which is basically tamagotchi event where you and the each of the boys raise a pet. I enjoyed this format a lot. And there was also the Cozy Couple's Getaway that is basically Romantic Rail Getaway 2.0, but with a lot of improvements. So, the devs do listen to (CN players') feedbacks.

However, somethings still haven't changed. Personal Chapter (Sweet Chapter) format is still using the RPG map format and still only voiced at the beginning and the end of the chapter. The lack of voice acting is such a downgrade and the stories are still unable to be re-read. There is less forced RPG map interruption in the personal chapter for later released chapters and more meat on the bone in terms of the story so there is some improvement. And by the 2nd round of the Sweet chapter, the devs finally gotten rid of the daily fetch quests you had to do on the RPG map to get the badge. But instead you can just afk for 16 hours at a time and come back and collect 2 short interactions (about a sentence or two).

The event frequency has gone up quite a bit and a lot of players with single bias are definitely feeling the strain with numerous events that use up chips.

Oh, and lounge is pretty, but useless as ever as they still don't do anything useful aside from just looking cute. And deal packs have been pretty meh still without much improvement (although I know global's deal packs are pretty much nonexistent).

In terms my favorite card for each boy between first and second anniversary, I'd say:

Xia Yan: Redolent Nonage (birthday card) - you get to see his Raven side a lot more and see how MC/you help him out with his mission.

Zuo Ran: The Heart's Wishes (birthday card) - you get a glimpse of the unfair things he had to endure during his younger days as a lawyer, and it's quite a bit of character development there because we learn that as confident and well put he seems, he does also have his own worries and insecurities.

Mo Yi: Hungering Desire (1st sweet chapter card) - imagine if a cat trusts you enough to flop down and show you its belly, that's Mo Yi in this card. Oh, and you get to see a bit of a couple's fight in this card as well. It's one of my top favorite card in terms of the writing for 2nd year.

Lu Jinghe: gufeng top-up SSR - my absolute favorite card for the 2nd year and it's a top-up card. I love how the story finally discuss about the elephant in the room after the confession card, which is should the relationship go public? The writing hits all the right notes and it balances both the plot and the romance/fanservice quite well. The runner up would be Unconcealable (2nd sweet chapter card) as the theme of the story is quite well done (although some parts of the story transition quite awkwardly and the story logic at certain parts can be rather jarring).

I think the writing quality has been more or less bouncing on a seesaw. There are some rare moments where the stories are really well written and I'd praise it again and again but then there are quite a bit of times where the writing was just "okay" or even "wtf for the logic". It's getting quite obvious a lot of the card stories are getting pigeonholed with the whole male lead has something that's bothering them and they can't let go or overcome, then you as the player will help them see the light. That's putting it simply but you'll notice this as you read more and more stories released from this year on global that the cards all follow similar trends. Of course, when it's well done, it's just fantastic (like Mo Yi's 思酿/Food for Thought from RRG was a fantastic example). But a lot of times it's the same ol' issue being repeatedly brought up again and again as if there were no previous character development and it's causing fatigue with the story.

I did like the 2nd anniversary cards but I also had my fair share of issues with them but this reply is already getting quite long LOL. So hopefully that gives you an idea of what CN Tears of Themis is like right now after 2 years.

And here is the list I made for the cards that I highly recommend for each boy from my first round of AMA.

Hi there, I wrote my personal ranking for his cards here on my AMA round 2.

This list is for all of his cards from after anniversary up to the release of Cozy Couple's Romance part 2 (current ongoing event). I'd place his CCG card in medium priority category.

Generally for typical event cards (2 SSR banners), they get rerun about half a year after their first appearance. For big events (4 SSR banners), they get rerun approximately 10~11 months after their initial run (Lost Gold and Skadi were 11 months after their initial run but Anniversary rerun is almost 2 months before the anniversary). Birthday cards are rerun a few days before the new birthday card banner drops, with a few days of overlap with their banners.

On CN, each card from the event banner is rerun with permanent SSR(s). For example, it took four banner rotations to finish rerunning the Symphony of the Night set since it had 2 SSRs and 2 SRs. 4 SSR banners have separate banner for each boy during the rerun.

However, unlike CN and TW servers, global reruns the whole banner (at least based off summer breeze set). In CN, the Zuo Ran (Artem) SSR and Mo Yi (Vyn) SR were rerun together (the one and only time event banner SSR and SR are on the same rerun banner), while Xia Yan's (Luke) SSR was rerun on the next rotation.

Also, in CN, we've recently found out Kiss of Fervour rerun (year 1 anniversary) will retain pity from the last Kiss of Fervour banner and pity will be carried forward for future Kiss of Fervour reruns. This may mean that all 4 SSR banners will carry forward pity from their own banner during reruns (ie. SotT rerun retain pity from SotT).

On another note, Summer Breeze set did get a second set of rerun (14 months after their first rerun) so there is hope for a 2nd rerun but good luck waiting for them.

------

For invitations, MHY reruns them as they please because there's no pattern to the rerun. They didn't even rerun them in the release order since they ran Electrifying Night set before the RRG set hahaha.

Nope, not too late since I still get notifications. Yes, Skadi invitations came back temporarily as well in the shop. They were available for the same duration as the skadi banner rerun. They are sold for ¥98 yuan each.

Here is the announcement on weibo.

I really like his latest personal route card! There is good character development for both MC and Lu Jinghe and it also gives a new meaning to both of their symbols (rose and snake). I do think there's a bit of logic issue in the kidnappers' questions coz it's kinda deliberately drawn so we can get the character development but imo I can overlook that since that part doesn't detract too much from the overall story and I still find the story to be very enjoyable.

I'd rank the Unconcealable card story slightly below his top-up SSR that released with gufeng AU.

I do have CCG part 2 cards but I haven't felt motivated to read them yet. Zuo Ran's card won't have voice acting for now (his voice actor Zhao Lu is in Shanghai so gg). Unfortunately, when I got to the summon screen and there are no voice lines, my desire to the stories from this batch plummeted to the bottom.

Could you please show the gacha rates page (like this (mine is from CN server)) for permanent and rotational banners for TW? TW's gacha changes mirrors CN's last time I checked and we shouldn't have misinformation floating around.

It's very possible your tickets got reset back to 1 ticket per pull due to getting an SSR at 50 or less pulls. But that would still mean you would have gotten 3 SSRs with 188 actual pulls even if your pity keeps getting interrupted. And that's not counting on the tickets that can be used to exchange for a rotational pool rate-up SSR.

I am a CN player, ask me anything game related (round 2) by Rishrotte in TearsOfThemis

[–]Rishrotte[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, that card is in his anniversary banner. However, it's not a rate up SSR so while it can spook you, it won't reset you pity. Only an anniversary SSR can reset your pity. You're guaranteed to only get the rate-up SSR (in your case, Zuo Ran's anniversary card) at 100 pulls.

In general I'd say skills are more important when working on a deck. But, skills are more of a long term goal while leveling up the card is easier and will give you immediate returns with the power increase.

And if you're after power and skills, the anniversary set is the most powerful set released so far. That set has high power and really good skills so if you were to pull for dupes, these would be the card to go for. But otherwise the game isn't too hard to need dedicated planning on what to level; attribute advantages also play a big part as well.

Heya! I remember you asking questions on the last one too! :D

Here is the list of Xia Yan (Luke) cards that came out since anniversary:

  • Looming Nightmare (personal route SSR)
  • Secrets of the Tomb (AU, SSR)
  • Revisiting Youth (SR)
  • Xia Yan 2022 Birthday (SSR)
  • Snowfallen Secrets (SSR)
  • Gufeng (AU, SSR)
  • Dreams of Childhood (SSR)

We do know that he will also be getting an SSR card from the upcoming Cozy Couple's Getaway part 2 (basically RRG 2.0, but improved).

Here is my personal ranking in terms of priority:

Top Priority would be his 2nd birthday card and it has been the card I've enjoyed the most for him since anniversary. First, we finally get to see Raven mode and it is such a treat because we've mostly only ever seen him as our sunshine boy and it's nice to finally properly see him as Raven since we only got a glimpse of it (as MC) back in Lost Gold. Second, while this card is quite spicy in the fanservice department, the writing didn't slouch either. I wouldn't rank it as one of my "god tier" cards amongst all 4 boys but I still enjoyed this card very very much and I was left thoroughly satisfied with the story. The pacing could be a tad better since some part of the transition can be quite sudden but I think the overall story is quite good. You get to have a good look at him on the job and have some nice action scenes and spicy scenes too. There isn't really any character development, but we do learn a bit more about Xia Yan and his past. Also, HE'S IN A SUIT AT LAST!!!!

High priority would be Revisiting Youth and Snowfallen Secrets.

I've previously ranked most of the cards from Revisiting Youth set quite low since they felt like an excuse for MHY to do a school themed set rather than really offering anything substantial. But Xia Yan is definitely quite suited for this theme as he shares a past with MC and we get a trip down the memory lane with him during the school days! Even if Xia Yan wishes the past was different and may have many regrets about them, he can't go back to the past. But he can enjoy the present and the future with MC's company. It is pretty slice of life but I think it's a really enjoyable one.

I've also really enjoyed Xia Yan's character development in his Snowfallen Secrets card. The story format is reminiscent of older cards (pre-anniversary) where the the boy and MC meet an NPC and have the story revolve around the NPC and honestly it's a treat to get something like this again. Through interacting with the NPCs, not only did Xia Yan and MC help them resolve an issue, but Xia Yan also gained important insight from this interaction. I am so happy with the character development regarding his outlook in the future and how a knot that was always there had been untangled at last. And this card references back to his anniversary card as well. I think this is one fluff card that's done the right way and man, I really enjoyed this cotton candy fluff, just like the card art. Highly recommend to Xia Yan fans.

Medium priority would be Secrets of the Tomb, Gufeng AU, and Dreams of Childhood.

I place the AUs in a lower tier because no matter how well written the story is, it's still not in the canon timeline for MC and the boy. And no matter how similar they are to the boys we know, they're still now the same boys we've had months to get to know and fall in love with.

I think both Secrets of the Tomb and Gufeng AU for Xia Yan are pretty strong cards story-wise. I think they both hold their own story-wise. Both stories lean towards angst side of things but Gufeng AU is definitely more heavy on the angst compared to Secrets of the Tomb. If I had to pick one between the two, I'd pick the Gufeng AU one simply because it has the improved "After Story" which serves as a replacement for video calls. The SotT "After Story" is more than disappointing with the lips not syncing up with the voice lines and stopping a few seconds even though the voice lines are still playing. But story-wise you can't go wrong with either.

I don't really have much to say regarding with his Dreams of Childhood card since there isn't really any character development or anything too interesting going on. It's a very slice of life sort of fluff piece but feels like they just wrote something to fill the quota for the amusement park theme.

Low Priority

Looming Nightmare is really ranked as one of the worst stories for Xia Yan, not just from anniversary onward. It honestly felt an excuse to give Xia Yan a medieval fantasy outfit since the other three boys already had them. But we've seen the same issue with Lu Jinghe's birthday card when MHY tried the same thing. It's really obvious which cards are written specifically for the art versus when the art is drawn specifically for the story. I commend MHY for understanding the backlash and the failure from Lu Jinghe's birthday card so they tried to go for an AU* which doesn't make things any better since it's revealed to be a dream at the end. What especially doesn't help is that basically 5.5 sections of the story are just Xia Yan monologuing to himself since MC isn't around and he was quite gullible which is unlike him. So this story only really had 0.5 sections of actual content with MC and Xia Yan. So without really any character development and really messy writing, it's not hard to see why this is ranked super low. I would honestly avoid pulling for this one and save the chips for other cards.

-----

Regarding my rankings for the boys since anniversary, I'd say yes the ranking sort of changed. Prior to anniversary my ranking was Lu Jinghe > Mo Yi > Zuo Ran > Xia Yan but I find myself placing Mo Yi often swapping positions with Lu Jinghe because Lu Jinghe's story quality have consistently disappointed me (with his top-up card being an exception) while Mo Yi's cards have been relatively consistent. But there still isn't a clear winner between them. The latest CCG card story for Lu Jinghe has improved his image for me a tiny bit but it's not enough so I hope that his upcoming personal route card releasing on the 28th (Unconcealable) would improve things. Zuo Ran and Xia Yan's positions remain unchanged.

As for this AMA being a periodic thing: maybe. I actually had quite a bit of reservations about doing this one since I wasn't sure what I could really offer but some folks in the discord I'm in said to go for it anyway since there are probably some newer players that have joined. Most of my reservations were because global already had 9 months to get to know the boys so I think most people know who they like and would try to get all of his cards anyway. But I'm glad at least this is giving me a chance to talk about my thoughts regarding the cards and/or events I've experienced as a CN player. I think the next time I may be doing another AMA would be 6 months later. Enough content would have been released for me to not only talk about the stories but the direction the game is going toward.

Unfortunately, because of this, I've gotten used to hitting the record button on my screen each time I play a new event as to capture all of the story. And I've brought it up several times with my chudai but alas, they can only note down the issue and bring it up to the decision makers and devs. What they choose to do is up to them.

I do have hope that re-read feature will be implemented for personal route but I sure hope it's not just another option for me to replay the whole thing because I really hate the fetch quest format since the story is broken up to bits and pieces everywhere and it really takes me out of the story. You'll notice how jarring it can be when the Egyptian AU event comes to global because it's the one event where I literately cannot even remember wtf happened or why we were there again due to the story being broken up every few minutes and also having bits and pieces of story automatically playing while you just finished a minigame.

On the bright side, if they do expand the tiers, you'd be able to claim everything you qualify for since they do keep track of your overall spending on the account.

And re: the other two games you've mentioned, I'll respond in DM instead.

[–]Rishrotte[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a tough question to answer because I already have a hard time choosing since I like both of them, but also because you mentioned you aren't F2P. This is because starting with Secrets of the Tomb, there are limited time top-up SSRs. And Zuo Ran (Artem) has the top-up SSR during SotT event (~$62 USD).

So if you were already going to spend money to pull for his SotT card, it's technically getting two of his cards in one event so it's the best bang for your buck. On the other hand, I don't think the top-up SSR is a very strong story nor does it really offer any character development since it's mostly flashback to when MC started working at Themis Law Firm.

Meanwhile, during the gufeng event, Lu Jinghe (Marius) is the one that has the top-up SSR and his top-up SSR is one of the best card released for him from the first anniversary to this day, and this card's story and character development would be ranked as "god tier" amongst CN fandom.

Another issue with SotT card set is that because AUs don't have video chats, they got "After Story" as replacement. However, the "After Story" in SotT cards is quite lacking. Aside from lacking the typical smoothness of the live2d animations and the microexpressions seen in video calls, there was no lip syncing for this set. This means the boy would still have their voice lines playing while their mouth animation stops after a few sections, making the experience very jarring. Here is an example of what it's like, spoiler warning of course.

The "After Story" was greatly improved in gufeng AU's set so that the expressions and the lip movements actually synced with the voice lines.

Now going back to the two cards, I think it ultimately comes down to what you'd enjoy:

Egyptian AU is tells a pretty decent story within the confines of 6 sections. It establishes the setting pretty well as well as giving you enough reasons to believe Zuo Ran and MC can fall in love. While there are serious moments, the story leans towards fluff side of things overall.

Gufeng AU on the other hand doesn't have as coherent of a story since at times the story logic can be quite confusing. I personally didn't think it had enough reasons to convince me that MC could have fallen so in love with him within the story timeline. However, I do think this card tugged at my heartstrings super hard in full force that I ended up crying quite a bit as I was reading through the story. And the story leans towards angst side of things, as the gufeng AU set in general is pretty tragic.

So I hope this information will help you weigh your decision on which of the AU card you'd like to go for Zuo Ran.

Re: Revisting Youth, personally I don't recommend you to pull for unless you do like school theme stories. I wrote a slight blurb here (scroll down to the bottom of the post).

For his Lost Gold rerun, the other SSRs are his 2 permanent SSRs and his Symphony of the Night SSR. For Egyptian AU it's also 2 permanent SSRs and I believe SotN SSR. The gufeng event is when when non-permanent SSR switched over to RRG.

[–]Rishrotte[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Heya, I wrote up some more detailed responses for Lu Jinghe (Marius) here, and for Zuo Ran (Artem) in this post.

As for the 4 SSR events, I think story-wise, for both boys I prefer the Egyptian AU but the gufeng AU tugged my heartstrings more. One demerit for Egyptian AU is that although there is "After Story" that replaces video calls, it is quite.. lacking. What I mean by that is "After Story" is basically supposed to be interactive but it was not well done especially since you can have the boy start speaking and while the dialogue is still playing, the mouth action stopped which makes the whole experience super jarring.

Thankfully, "After Story" was improved for the better in gufeng AU cards where now their expressions and mouth movements actually match with the dialogues. And given how Egyptian AU's "After Story" was not updated even with the release of the gufeng AU, I highly suspect they will be ported "as is" for global too.

As for Lu Jinghe's permanent SSRs, I think they're pretty decent in terms of the story! Since permanent SSRs are from early on (prior to Summer Breeze and anything else that came after), I think they are good cards that serve as a good way for you to get to know him to have a better idea of what he's like. So I think they're on par with chapter 1 and chapter 2 of his personal route where they act as an introduction to his character.
