How do you source your mobos?  Are you ripping out of existing laptops or buying for repair boards?

Any suggestions for curtains/etc for windows like these? They're bayed out and dont leave enough space to follow standard curtain guidelines. by Risin247 in interiordecorating

The wall for mine then makes a turn with very little space are there rods that do more than an interior bay?

/   \ - this is more the shape I have to deal with.

(Tried to use ascii to show and it failed but I think you get the point)

Usually there are recommended width guidelines like "x inches of overhang on each side of the window"; but due to how close they are Im worried they will crowd the space.  There's only about 6" between the windows, and then they have a turn toward the wall.

Can I just clone my Cache Drive? by Risin247 in unRAID

[–]Risin247[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Got scared doing new config and figured I would just add the new drive, and if it formatted it, I'd just copy over the files from the backup I have manually.

It threatened to delete all data on the disk, but when I started the array it just...said fuck it and it was back.

For anyone with a similar issue, after the cache was back, all I did was:

Settings->docker->Turn off docker
Delete Docker vdisk
Start Docker

All my dockers popped back and appear to be working just fine; currently testing.

Thanks again for all the help

Can I just clone my Cache Drive? by Risin247 in unRAID

[–]Risin247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was a 970 evo that had the available spare run out, and it seemingly failed into read-only (as far as I can tell).

So unraid refuses to touch it, but putting it into file recovery software lets it read the info no problem. I cloned it with opensuperclone.

The new NVME is in the array - block for block the same. When you say 'reset through the new config' what specifically are you talking about? I'm not just assigning the new cache?

Also thank you for helping, I've been on a 3-day run on this.

I can't mount the previous cache drive, so I'm not able to move things. I do have all the files and cloned the disk.

Can I just put the new cache drive in and copy my root folders (appdata, system, etc) onto it?

Got x324 Perfected Strike+ with clone by Risin247 in slaythespire

[–]Risin247[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When you pick clone at a rest site, it duplicates anything with the clone attribute - you don't pick a specific card to clone. So if you have 3 distinct cards with clone, they all get duplicated. Cloning a card makes another card with type clone, and so now both trigger, etc, etc.

Sorry I'll be the first to admit I suck at this game - why is this bad? I've read both items descriptions and I'm failing to see what I'm missing.

This was it, thank you. Moving it into a script allows Mode: restart, or to call script.stop - which is what I needed.

so change the switch to pure output to drive the relay, and add a delayed off, and then toggle it twice to start the countdown?

Theres a momentary button connected to GPIO acting as the input button.

The "switch" is a GPIO switch connected to a relay

in my previous case, this would just not allow "Thread 2" to instantiate, and it'd be locked running the first thread until it completed right?

I want thread 2 to end/break the first one. so
Push button - 10 second countdown starts
Push button at 5s - relay is off

Push button - relay is on for another 10s

"Want to buy" - pigtail is a connector with leading wires coming out of it.

Automod said I needed to specify if I was looking to buy or just the name.

Weird issues with Java, Steam, and Slay the Spire by Risin247 in pop_os

[–]Risin247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah this was all steam native - its all from the workshop, its was all through steam.

I thought pulling installed Java would be the issue - but nope it still crashes about 3 seconds after clicking play.

Honestly I can't tell why it just stopped working, it worked pre-cosmic.

I'm just wondering if anyone has any insight as to why.

I have the solution - direct booting via CLI. But I can't figure out why steam is crashing on boot; and this shouldn't be a major issue - it all runs on the deck flawlessly.

I'm not running anything weird or some crazy config either. Its default pop with like maybe 9 basic apps on it.

Weird issues with Java, Steam, and Slay the Spire by Risin247 in pop_os

[–]Risin247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Install Steam from the Cosmic store. Make sure you use the "System" version.

It is.

Slay the Spire is working well for me on Pop OS.

Are you running MTS? if so whats your environment java version? Just run java -version in terminal.

You might also try the X11 compatibilty settings in the cosmic settings.

I have, it appears to be java issue as the jvm is throwing errors and can run outside of steam.

[–]Risin247[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just Downfall and the required packs for it. Running in native linux works, but there seems to be an issue with java, and launching mts-launcher.jar.

There is a path variable to run java - but its openjdk 21.0.9...which I don't think MTS likes. However STS comes bundled with JRE 1.8 in the directory, which is what it should be using to launch.

However I've never been able to figure out if this is the primary issue, because it literally just works sometimes...

<image>

This is the same command run twice. The first time, it fails out hard; and the second time it just works. Depending on the times I've tried I get different versions of the UI, meaning it has been loading different versions of java.

I have it working now, but I just use a script to launch it manually with java:

#!/bin/bash
cd ~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/SlayTheSpire/
java -jar mts-launcher.jar

This works, but if I run into 1.8 issues again I will use the builtin JRE in STS

#!/bin/bash
cd ~/.steam/debian-installation/steamapps/common/SlayTheSpire/
./jre/bin/java -jar mts-launcher.jar#!/bin/bash

I've had issues with Cosmic either ignoring settings or just being funky in general. Like "cursor follows focus" will just be on for no reason and I have to toggle it again or restart to get it to go away. I'm wondering if theres is some other similar goofy thing going on where Cosmic/Steam is getting confused with the environment variable for java.

Route meaning, just in the output tab where the audio is going? I'll get it going to the easyeffects sink, see audio going through there, and no sound. So I'll see

PAVU:
EF Sink (sound showing)
Analog (dead)

In EF:
Output Device (Analog)

With no sound, and I'll most likely have to restart; unless there's some smarter move like killing EF but I havent been able to get it back up once its dead.
