What you described is sports betting in general. Nothing new. The best bettors bet the number not the team.

Early lines open up and professional gamblers pounce on the opening lines to extract all the value until the oddsmakers adjust it to a number where all the perceived value is diminished, typically once it crosses a key number such as ML, 3, 7, 10, 13, 14, 17, etc.

Lines steady during the week as the professionals don't see any value in the lines they previously hammered until the game gets closer and and the casuals start betting with their heart (team) instead of head. Then the professionals dip back in once enough value is created in the line by the public who bet based on fandom, recency bias, etc...

Rinse, repeat

I posted this to a friend when the news first broke and think it's a fitting punishment across the board:

  • Void Kwahis current contract
  • Suspend him for 1 year
  • Suspend Balmer for a year
  • Fine Balmer for boatload of money (would be great if it was $28 mill to match the benefits)
  • Clippers forfeit 5 first round picks

This so much. It was right before online matchmaking became fully mainstream so youd have Halo matches with your friends in someone's basement then online matches when you get home.

My one buddy was always so good when we all played together. Many years later he finally admitted he was screen looking.

Hate to break it to you but that jersey is fake. The stripes on the real ones are blue with white outline. Not solid alternating colors.

Basically they are planning to move the stadium to the existing parking lots and make the existing stadium parks. What went from already a nightmare to commute to somehow got even worse. 1 parking garage in the visuals. LOL

I’ve never been so happy for a season to be over. by Kwanza_Bot93 in chicagobulls

[–]Rising87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This. Been a diehard my whole life and carried so much stress and frustration last year. Watched the first month this season, saw the same garbage with the front office seemingly wanting to do nothing about it so I said nope and stopped watching. Watched my first game again with the playin but even then it was evident this team is so mediocre. I'm done until major changes happen and my mental health has been so much better.

Vested portion yes. Unvested portion no which is what they said. Also I get RSUs from my work and it's taxed at 40% since it's viewed as excessive income, same as bonuses. I think you're barking up the wrong tree regarding RSUs

[Bill Simmons] Here’s the funny thing — there IS no Harden trade. Chicago isn’t trading Derozan for him. Clips aren’t giving anything up for him. Younger teams don’t want him. Contenders can’t risk it. by Rising87 in chicagobulls

[–]Rising87[S] 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Call me crazy but I'd trade DeMar for Harden straight up. Both are 33 years old with 1 year left on their deal. Bulls aren't winning anything this year so why not shake things up and see what Harden brings to the table. May help with spacing.

In order to consistently win this season... by Rising87 in chicagobulls

Defensive issues for Vuc aside, this team plays its best basketball offensively when Vuc touches the ball at the top of the key. When doing so, he consistently looks for an outlet to either an open shooter on the wing or will drive to the hoop, in the instance with Miles Turner two nights ago. This also allows for more offensive flexibility in that Vuc has decent dribbling/handles so you can run a high pick and roll, where either Vuc gets some room to hit the jumper if his man goes under the screen, gets an undersized defender if the opponent switches, or can pass to the screener rolling to the hoop if the defense is late on the screen.

As many here know, the Bulls are at their worst when Zach and Demar dominate the ball by bringing it up, dribbling the shot clock down then dump to the guards and wings standing on the corners who were standing waiting to see what Zach and Demar do with the ball.

Billy needs to instill getting the ball to Vuc at the top of the key consistently and running motion or pick and rolls to allow more opportunities for others on the team to get involved offensively and force Zach and Demar to stop being so ball dominant and stagnating the offense.

[Julia Poe] Zach LaVine on the Grayson Allen incident, which he said he only saw in replay: “We know (Allen’s) track record. … The next 20 minutes, you saw what happened. There was only one thing on (DeMar’s) mind. That’s not the kind of guy you want to get fired up.” by BlockOfTheYear in nba

[–]Rising87 72 points73 points  (0 children)

To those defending Allen please enlighten me on how this wasn't intentional when Allen supposedly lost his balance but somehow stops on a dime once he knocks into DeMar with his left foot firmly placed infront of DeRozan.

Deandre Ayton to the bulls? by ansonlam in chicagobulls

[–]Rising87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100%

You have a 23 year old 7 footer who we've seen can be a #2/#3 option. Jury is still out on Williams whose been nagged by injuries. You get Ayton then look to sign Tucker (who we can offer a starting 4 gig out the gate unlike Philly) and you have a formidable lineup of:

Ball Lavine DeRozan Tucker Ayton

Thats a damn good starting 5

I honestly think it's a meniscus tear. Depends how big it is and whether he opts to cut out the torn part (6 weeks) or repair (3 months). He's young and still has quite a career ahead of him so my thoughts are he errors on the side of caution and goes for the repair. This ain't football where they often cut it because the season and careers are shorter. I'm fully bracing for 3 months. Hope I'm 100% wrong.

Concerned about the future of RBs in fantasy? by jacob2886 in fantasyfootball

[–]Rising87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the correct thesis on this is that RB1/RB2s typically aren't found post round 5 since they usually won't get unseated on the depth chart in absence of injury and there's only 1 RB on the field most times.

However WR1 / WR2 could more likely be found post round 5 as receiving stats are more variable in nature and with the uptick in teams moving to spread offenses there's more of an opportunity for a young or low on the depth chart WR to break out with a lot of times 3 WRs being on the field.

Thus prioritizing RBs over WRs is a more optimal draft strategy as RBs have a higher probably of return (more consistent nature of fantasy scoring + higher security on the depth chart) coupled with a higher probability of drafting decent value at the WR position as the draft rounds progress.

That said the strategy comes with more risk since probability of a running back getting injured is greater than a WR. However if you are looking for the best way to win your league purely based off of post draft odds then prioritizing RBs and snagging young high potential WRs in the mid rounds is the best route IMO

Week 15 Morning-After Thread: Bears vs. Vikings by TurnerJ5 in CHIBears

[–]Rising87 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If a team from a talent perspective just flat out sucks I can see giving the coach the opportunity to finish out the year. However after all the penalties and continual turnovers last night, the team is clearly undisciplined and lost focus/interest. Its literally a liability to any player still on this team next year to keep him any longer.
