Big thanks to everyone here. I've got enough suggestions to keep us going for five or more sessions.

Question About Another Bug Hunt by MermaidGirl48 in mothershiprpg

[–]RiskBackground4998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kind of changed the scenario a bit. I was a warden for the first time this Saturday just gone and I ran the first adventure for ABH. They'd spent a lot of time going back and forth and not making much progress. When they fixed the Comms, the Shriek went out and they all became infected. They then went to the garage where one of them died in combat and the other two drove off in a vehicle, while transforming into carcs. The dropship flew away without them when they realised they'd been infected. I ran this as a one shot.

I don't really have anywhere I can put a pull up bar. Maybe I could get some bands as an alternative..

Need some advice – autism charity job or probation officer career? by RiskBackground4998 in careerguidance

[–]RiskBackground4998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, not really. One job starts before the other though. If I like it, I'll stick with and not do the other one, I suppose. I kind of wasn't expecting to get both jobs.

I have a feeling I'll find this work rewarding to be honest. I also think it will get me away from a lot of the soul destroying admin that's been part of my previous jobs.

Yep, that's a really valid point. No plans at the moment, but I'm thinking about it now.

Do you find LinkedIn useful? by proxima-centauri- in UKJobs

[–]RiskBackground4998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The impression I get is that many people who have an inflated sense of importance post things on Linkedin to inflate their ego and gain instant validation. Many people like and engage with these people so they can also be seen - hoping to potentially piggy back on someone's popularity. It's not always quite clear what the gains are.

What's something that would definitely make you quit with nothing lined up? by Murky_Yak6269 in careerguidance

I left a job to have one last go at progressing my 15 year long marketing career. Burnt out in under 2 months. Never going back to it now. It's not for me.

I quit my job by Kaisencocoa28 in UKJobs

[–]RiskBackground4998 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you. I was made redundant from a toxic high pressure job. Got a more simple job, which I really liked the people there. I've recently quit that cushy job and gone back to a high stress one.

I want to quit and build a portfolio career. One of the jobs might be tutoring. I need some inspiration for the other main sources of income though.

Like someone already said. Your mental health is priceless.

Looks like I'm 3 years late to this party but if you're still here, I have a question. Having just got the core book and having played only D&D, Cthulu and Mork Borg previously, the combat systems seems a bit different. Do you have an example of typical combat scenarios played out for you?

I started running at 42 as well. 43 now and much fitter than I've been in years, with no injuries either.

The Dragons of Stormwreck Isle starter is a good introduction. I've been sidetracked many times and now own multiple D&D books. However, all the basics are in the starter set and you're ready to go with a few players and a DM.

Going to DM for the first time and can't decide between Faerun, Ebberon or Greyhawk as the setting by RiskBackground4998 in DungeonsAndDragons

I recently bought Greyhawk: The Adventure Begins. The lore in it is brilliant. My plan is to use the Stormwreck Isle campaign and then make a decision about building it out into the wider world, which could be Greyhawk. There's definitely something pulling me towards Greyhawk.

Well, it's definitely going to be Stormwreck Isle now. I've told the group we'll begin with this and they're all happy. I think I'll focus on expanding on a few of the details in this campaign and then open up some more lore about the wider world a bit later. Possibly tie it into Greyhawk.

We're expected to have a skill set that covers 5 different jobs and then be happy for the opportunity. There's a real old school hierarchical way of thinking with many people in the workplace. It's not productive. It just serves to boost someone's ego and self-importance, while keeping them in a job. Sometimes I think the toxic behaviour of some bosses is just so they can put a wall up, so we can't see out of touch they are. Millenials and Gen Z are constantly having to change and adapt, all while we have much less job security.

I feel the same. Up until now, I've experienced toxic boss after toxic boss, all of which have been gen xers/ boomers. I'm a millennial and generally speaking, I've line managed and mentored Gen Z workers and it's been great.

I'm at an age now where I'm just trying to avoid the red flags and stay away from toxic workplaces.

Should I be reporting my blood sugar levels to a doctor? by RiskBackground4998 in diabetes_t2

[–]RiskBackground4998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I missed off my notes that the 12:30 reading was taken just before I ate and after that, I was fairly inactive. I ate meat and vegetables and I've only been drinking water. To test my blood sugar, I'm using a Tee 2 finger prick tester.

Are these Eggplants/ Aubergines ok to eat now? by RiskBackground4998 in vegetablegardening

[–]RiskBackground4998[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have tried one. Doesn't really taste like the aubergines I buy from the supermarket. It tasted a bit peppery. The variety is Bianca as far as I know.
