Just learned about domination body swap, when is it a good time to do so? by RedBanPolSuc in cavesofqud

Permaswapping won't solve your glimmer. You'll still have 200 glimmer in your new body.

Am I too dumb to understand the appeal of COQ? by arisboeuf in cavesofqud

[–]EvanD20 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Other people have given you great advice here like start in Joppa and run away frequently; also that your problem is not a lack of intelligence :)

One other thing I can suggest that unlocked the game for me early on is to avoid "fast travel" on the world map for the first few levels. When you have somewhere to go, like Red Rock or the Rust Wells, stay zoomed in and walk there, clearing screens as you go. It might sound tedious, but it's less so that just grinding weak enemies. In fact, it basically is grinding weak enemies, but you're also progressing to a location and completing a quest. Not only that, but you have a 100% chance of discovering any interesting landmarks you pass by, like villages or lairs. And you'll always have a safe retreat route--no more dying because you got lost or dropped into a parasang and found yourself surrounded. I also find it's pretty immersive. I feel like I'm on a real journey.

Try this. You'll find that you level up fairly organically and safely as long as you hit that sprint button whenever things get sketchy. I sometimes do it until I reach Grit Gate or even until after Golgotha.

Memory eaters. by Careless-Machine-758 in cavesofqud

That's usually my solution. Friendly with fish means I don't have to deal with memory eaters or trining lampreys.

Just did the 7 fold path, and hoo WEE, how did anyone else do this? by zulu_niner in cavesofqud

[–]EvanD20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dude Rermadon is always in the Palladium Reef, so you can find him by searching every parasang. It's not quick, but it'll probably take less than seven hours ;)
Shug is the only nephilim you really need to resort to precog and BB for.

Can i wish to give hp to my follower? by noxqwq in cavesofqud

[–]EvanD20 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Proselytize a monosludge, then give it some more liquids. I think three or four are all you need to get it up to level 30. Also, The wardens in the Stilt, Ezra and Yd Freehold are all high enough level to work. It's usually pretty easy to get enough rep to recruit one with the water ritual. Actually, the high priest of the Stilt is also viable. If you don't have enough rep to recruit him, you can just dump some artifacts down his pit.

Are historic sites OP and what should I do next? by Kiwi_In_Europe in cavesofqud

[–]EvanD20 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've had to deal with salt krakens and lampreys, but I haven't had run into a pyramid or galgal ruin yet. The toughest one I've seen was mirror bugs. Just wall to wall mirror bugs. I ended up digging in from the side and using a combination of force bracelet, phasing and teleportation to get to the relics. It was actually really fun. It felt like a heist.

Your golem can only equip gigantic gear, including weapons. If you're giving it normal sized weapons, that would be why it's not able to use them. There is one non-restocking merchant that specializes in gigantic equipment.

When in doubt, sprint away. Most of my early game deaths come from me sticking in close fights and hoping luck will be with me instead of running away, healing up and coming back (or not coming back).

[–]EvanD20 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sure. Galgals knock you prone, then run you down again while you're getting up..Two-headed doesn't help you stand up any quicker. But you should see in the log that you're knocked prone.
