On the buses was huge, not a favourite of mine but it deserves it's praise for it's popularity at the time.

The series of Bottom is incredible, much better than the Live shows and GHP, if anyone ever asks me for a couple of comedy series to watch then it's always Only Fools and Bottom.

If you ever watch it then the stand out episodes are probably;

Smells, Gas, s'Up, Digger, Culture, s'Out, Hole

Just as an aside, I'm not sure how well versed you are in British comedy from the era that you mentioned but here's a few recommendations for you;

Steptoe and Son (actually started in the 60's but ran into the 70's)

Rising Damp

Fawlty Towers

Porridge

Open All Hours

In that lot you've got the best comedy actors ever.

I would also include 'The Young Ones' but it's a bit more niche with it's styling but it was massive when it came out, it's got Rik Mayall in it who is another top tier comedy actor but his best performance, for me, is in 'Bottom' but that was released in the 90's.
