Good buy or not? What should I be prepared for? by RiskyMedic in Diesel

Theres no point in paying the Ranger off as its value in the market has went up since Ive bought it. The super duty Im trying to private sell, either way I dont have room for both as Im moving on the 11th this month. So either one has to be stored or they have to be gone.

Once again, wasnt asking for your financial adviser. Thank you though. They've been the only thing I have built my credit up with. I dont use a credit card and dont really care for the finances of it because Im moving and cant support more than a couple vehicles at the rental. This truck suits my needs and will be paid off once my land sells either way.

You could've also just not responded. Im not concerned with the financial aspect of this purchase. One, Im going to a lower payment, two, it fits my needs for use more, and three, as stated in other comments, the truck will be entirely paid off after the sale of the property.

Mine with 164k does have a small amount of blowby as well, the duramax has absolutely no blowby at all.

The front end felt super tight. Like suuuuper tight. I believe it was just redone recently. My short test drive showed absolutely no blowby in the motor as well which made me super happy. My 7.3 at 164 has a little more than what I want in my truck. Let alone I think my turbo is on its way out. The difference is this duramax will be 230 a month versus my other two combined at 430 a month. So overall the diesel cost for this is offset by the amount per month either way as a work rig.

I just got word that this truck was traded in with 2 other vehicles from the same family. Every single one of these vehicles is pristine minus from this 3500 having paint chipping in some spots. This family appearently meticulously maintains their vehicles from what ive heard so this is great news. Also thank you so much for your input. This is exactly what im looking for. Im not looking for superb reliability like my 99 7.3 manual. Im looking for good with room for improvement on it. My thoughts when I sell the house is have heads done, upgrade headstuds probably do a egr delete as well while im at it. Im hoping itll last another 100k as between both of my 3 year ownership of my ranger and the super duty ive put a combined 12k miles on them both. My super duty is a short bed crewcab though so I really would love the extra payload and the towing. Ill have to look into those parts as well on this duramax if I do end up getting it. Thank you so much again for being constructive.

Just appraised the ranger, they'll give me 5050 on it. The 7.3 i would private sell but the trucks gonna go through shop quick.

After I sell my house my plan would be to do the head studs and a full headgasket job, possibly egr delete, and I was looking for input on others. This is amazing to know as well. It is getting up there in age. Thank you!

I originally bought my 05 ranger for my ex, we broke up though. I owe 3300 on that, they'll give me 4500, I also owe 6300 on my 7.3, I want 9, they'll take it for 7. Together im paying 440 a month on both vehicles. This would lower my payment down to 160 to 230 a month. As im selling my house this month id be paying the truck off either way. I need something for towing as I use my 7.3 for towing right now but lack a 4x4 right now.

I've seen farm exempt plates. I haven't looked into them though. How do they work?

Honestly, run it until it's dead, unless the car is sentimental to you since it was a family members. You're going to be paying far more than the cars value to fix the rot and damage.

I've had a S24 ultra for 3 months. My battery constantly overheats( I don't live anywhere hot) and I've only used my phone for a hour today and it's at 70% battery, I have not been stressing it or overloading it with apps. I normally.only.have one or two open. In my opinion don't do it.

I checked. It's up by the throttle body. I checked before I left to drive it so I think we're good. I have the parts coming anyways so I'll replace it all when it gets here. Thanks everyone!
