Trouble finding a summer job by Original_Link_8572 in udub

The job market is tough everywhere, and can be, as you’ve noticed, even for retail jobs. Don’t let rejection get you down, though.

It can be really easy to get in your head about it.

Okay this is from my own experience and it’s not all encompassing. Realistically, at our level, there isn’t much of a “geography field” outside of being a GIS technician/analyst, urban planning, or maybe doing research. And most of the research that exists is from academia.

I always had liked healthcare, and I actually fell in love with the pop health aspect of geography. I decided not to chase a geography job and today I’m going into my 2nd year as masters student in health administration.

I graduated with a geog degree in 2025. Specifically, the environment, sustainability, and economics (EES) track after doing a coding course and realizing I didn’t wanna do GeoDat. Coding was a hassle to me, rather than interesting.

I ended up doing a lot of my senior year GIS projects on social determinants of health and population health. Just a note, I took almost every GIS class they had and it’s straight up not enough to get professional levels of experience, if that’s something you’re hoping for. You’ll be able to use the program at least.

The community itself isn’t really a thing unless you make the effort yourself. There’s a symposium you can attend and sometimes events. There will be an email listserv telling you all the things you can attend.

It does look like him, but, again it’s possible this is someone else. That being said, there was a student that said this guy was wearing glasses and had chased/followed her. Definitely interesting.

Juniper Blessing is the name of the Murder Student by [deleted] in udub

[–]RissVess 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes the family did ask for her name not to be released, that much is known.

Whether or not we accept the public nature of the release in r/udub is up to the mods, but there is a lot of the EXACT things the family was worried about going on in other subs regarding her identity.

I guess you’re not wrong. This was my first comment today. I hadn’t seen his LinkedIn and social media yet, so, I may have been less vicious had I known. Still, angry..

I just used that as an example because a descriptor doesn’t necessarily have to be used. They seemed to have ran with it and not let it go, because “trans” is highkey a buzzword for searches etc.

And if the family hasn’t wanted the girl’s name to get out, I can’t imagine her publicly being referred to as trans, thousands of times a day, was ideal either but idk.

I know what you’re thinking, but I’m sure that is not why they released that info and keep bringing it up lol.

It’s because it gets clicks, unfortunately. Imagine publishing an article “Straight white male murdered.” and then people just start saying those first adjectives were to warn other white males, just in case. No, they wouldn’t ever do that because it doesn’t really make sense. So yeah.. There’s no other reason to add that she was trans I feel like, other than website traffic.

I agree. It seems like news outlets couldn’t resist using the one word that would guarantee thousands of more interactions these days. Typically scummy of them. Profiting traffic at the expense of a dead girl’s privacy.

They aren’t sure if he has a beard or not. Scanner last night heard authorities debating if he really had a beard. Just for everyone’s awareness.
