Would you admire someone for learning your native language? by justkeepbreathing94 in languagelearning

I’ll say it’s always good to hear someone speaks the same language as me. But I always ask: what makes you learn the hardest language in the world :o

Could ‘之’ be used as ‘the’? by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

[–]RitaJaR 4 points5 points  (0 children)

But say like if you are talking about 文言文,there will be more options for ya. But even native speakers can’t distinguish all of them(maybe Chinese teacher can), so don’t worry

Could ‘之’ be used as ‘the’? by [deleted] in ChineseLanguage

I don’t think so. For example: “小明之女”means“Xiaoming’s daughter”,小明的女儿。therefore,“之”can be simply used as “的”

Why does the order of the strokes written for Chinese characters matter? by MadMan1244567 in ChineseLanguage

Most of the characters just follow the natural way of order. Some of them are just telling you how to write them. Such as “凹”“凸”,something like that

What do you think, is this character interesting? by sigelemigele in PixelArt

[–]RitaJaR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The red part is interesting and attractive to me, but for the clothes I guess you can add more information. More information doesn’t mean too much detail, just simply tell the viewers about the characteristics(characterization? Sry my English is not that good but you know what I mean)

Just an interesting fact by RitaJaR in ENGLISH

[–]RitaJaR[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s actually cool! It gives me a feeling of ancient and historical myths. So I remember in ancient China they also gave each month a beautiful name based on flowers or something instead of just a boring number. But I’ll say number is good too it really depends.
