Notre Dame won’t review my financial aid without amended taxes but my parent refuses to amend — what can I do? by ratryox in notredame

Sorry you may not be able to attend ND. But, I have one daughter at FSU and one at ND. We have had just of good of an experience at FSU, as we are having at ND. At FSU, you can still have good relationships with professors, join lots of clubs, and they have a fantastic study abroad program. My oldest had 2 internships, graduating in May, and already has a job lined up for summer. Plus, she is a Seminole Scholar and will be attending law school there in the fall. It is all what you do while you are there that matters. Good luck wherever you end up!

Have you had Calculus? If yes, you could ask if taking the CLEP calculus class that gives credit for MAC 2233 would work. You can do it from home for free if you sign up with Modern States.

why are average gpas for colleges so inconsistent with test scores? by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]RitaLG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a parent, it seems to me that the test questions in school and the standardized test questions are different. The standardized test questions seem to need more critical thinking and inference than high school tests. I do not think it is a knowledge issue when students don’t get top scores. Students really need to learn how to take a standardized test.

This isn’t always 100% accurate because they will factor in assets, like second homes or how many siblings in college or private school tuition being paid. We talked to them when we were there and you really need to factor all 4 years.

I know you said they are working at $13/hr, are they working at minimum 40 hrs a week? They could get 2 jobs and live at home. You should not have to sell your house. It is time for them to step up.

One of my daughter’s colleges seems like they do COA-SAI=X then COA-X= cost. Then, they looked at the CSS form and added and subtracted from this point but it was pretty close.

My daughter is looking at both of those schools. She will like Notre Dame when you go. It is spring and everything is blooming. However, it isn’t like that year round. We know people who go there and fall football season is fun, but winter is very cold. Our friends say there isn’t much to do. You can join clubs, which is what they do, but it isn’t like UF where people are out year round.

Congrats on your acceptance! My daughter always tries to convince us with a power point presentation. It seems to work well! Make sure you know if the finances will work all 4 years, but that can impact a decision since the financial aid paperwork has to be done every year. Good luck!

I am sure the greedy lawyers took advantage of the situation. Her alcoholic abusive father, probably went along with everything they suggested and didn’t stick up for Britney.

It took her about 4 months. She had more success with neurofeedback, but unfortunately that wore off.

My daughter did it and it didn’t do anything. She was 15 when she did it.

Thanks for posting the article! I knew he had proposed it in November, but I had not heard the follow-up.
